That Gallagher trade is a joke.
At 50% retained, he would get 1st + 1st round caliber prospect
What are you thinking here?

No.1 Petry doesn't waive to go to Dallas imo
No. 2 Marchessault isn't the guy they trade to make cap space
No. 3 We'll pay to dump Byron
No. 4 We aren't in a rush to retain salary on Gallagher's contract , especially for that return
No.5 Very lowball offer for Chychrun considering the market, imo it'll be too expensive to acquire him

Nill wont take Petry without retention, And that Chychrun trade is a joke no quality there what so ever. FYI Petry's wife and kids plan on staying in Detroit for the long haul, So zero chance of Petry waiving for Dallas to be 1,000 miles from his family. He wants to be near Detroit has humanly possible. So that basically only leaves Buffalo, Columbus and or Pittsburgh and possibly Detroit as landing sites.

I'm usually in agreement with your take , but this one if off by a mile . Gally is breaking down and most likely never plays 82 games again, hence why we'll never trade him because we'll want a big package that no teams will be willing to pay.

Although this would be an absolute steal for the sabres. That's not what he would get.

Very sneaky to put that laughable Chych offer last, so we have to read through all of it before realizing how nuts it is. Touché.

Nice team! A lot of fantasy here though unfortunately:

1) Chychrun trade... you gotta replace Fairbrother with Mailloux to even start this conversation. Plus the habs should not target Chychrun. They have enough young D and they need to give them opportunities to play
2) Letang is gonna get more than 7M/season, but the habs would be nuts to miss the chance to sign him because he's still amazing!
3) Habs should try to avoid a bridge with Romanov. He's getting better and better and if they can lock him down until he's 26 or 29 they should aim for one of those
4) Others were right, there's no way they dump Marchessault... but also Marchessault is not the right type of player to dig pucks out of the corners for Suzuki & Caufield
5) Gally has been playing well with his shifting responsibilities. I think he's gonna have a career year next year and everyone is gonna be back to singing his praises. You don't give up on a guy like that after 1 bad season

Take in Faksa and Khudobin and Stars consider it.

Stars can't be making monetary net loss here, because Petry is not a good target for us in the first place.

Exactly.
He might nit be worth that, but at 50% retained for a team to acquire him, it starts with 1st + 1st round caliber prospect
Or else we keep him.

1) Agree with you about the young D but I don't think any of them is ready yet. I think that including Mailloux would be an overpay
2) Maybe he will get more somewhere else, yes
3) I think he could get 8yr x 4.5-5 if we talk long term
4) I agree with you. Who would you suggest then? And for what?
5) I think you need to trade him for cap space. Caulfield is gonna cost a lot next year and I think Pitlick can do a better overall job (defense + offense) for a lot less
