Teams just don't trade top 5 picks. Nothing ends arguments better than facts. And the fact is that Dubois really doesn't have much more value than Fiala this summer. If Winnipeg so chooses to trade PLD then Florida's 1st + 1 of Beck/Farrell should be pretty close to fair.
How is it similar at all? Dach was traded for the guaranteed 13th OA pick and to a rebuilding team.
1. That Calgary pick has a load of conditions on it that make it almost guaranteed top 10 protected and 2-3 years out
2. NYR is absolutely not rebuilding, that pick will have significantly less value to their playoff runs than Lafreniere</div></div>
I agree about your last point. NYR will want an established player that can take them far in the playoff. Considering that, NYR will want someone like Josh Anderson

I don't see Matheson getting traded in the WPG trade. More like a Jordan Harris. You still need an experience LD and Harris is a B+ prospect that can play right now

I agree with you! I can see KH getting 1-2 1st round pick at the TDL for guys like Monahan, Anderson, Edmundson. From what we saw from last year, he's very creative on the draft floor. This team will be a powerhouse in 2024

I don't think MTL wants to trade Barron. They badly need RDs. I also don't see MTL taking an other winger since they have a lot of those. This trade does not make sense for MTL

I don't see Drouin being traded this summer. He always has great season beginnings and his value would be higher at the TDL for a team who's contending. Could even get a 1st if salary is retained

I would be very surprised if MTL trades Dvorak. In the next 2yrs, the center line will be Suzuki, Wright, Dvorak, X. Dvorak is one of the best 3rd C you could ask for. Especially if MTL plan is to be a contender in 3-4 years

Montreal would take Roy any day. But getting Pacioretty does not make sense since MTL is trying to shed salary cap as well.

I am pretty sure Price's career is over. MTL would not trade Allen if that's the case. Unless they can sign a guy like Fleury

If you want experience Yzerman will go after a veteran during free agency for free, simple as that.</div></div>
And when I send him elsewhere (ie Dallas), everyone says he's going to Detroit....

NJ may trade their first
To get Cole Caufield, it will take at least 2x 1st picks and 1-2 prospects
If NJD want to trade their 1st to MTL, they will most likely receive Dvorak in return

1- You have way too many contracts. A team is limited to 50 contracts. You have 57 in this roster
2- There is not a single team that will trade for Eichel right now just by the way he played this year
3- The Hoffman trade is fair
4- Love the Romanov signing. I see him getting 2-3 for 3M or 8x4.5M

Don't think so. There is no one else with a 8M cap hit with a 1M in real salary anywhere else. AZ will play in a college arena next year, the money income will be low. I expect AZ to pay a B prospect OR a 2nd/3rd round pick for Weber's contract

Crosby amp Gaudreau as HABS next year
MTL won't trade a RD, espacially Mailloux. The only way you can expect Crosby to land in MTL is during free agency. And even then, I do not think he will sign anywhere else than PITT
For the Petry trade, I think MTL can get a B prospect + a late 1st for Petry somewhere in the league. David Savard was trade for a late 1st 2yrs ago..

I would. Just by watching his progression in the past 2 years, you know he will become a great D man. Right now, you can see he's focusing on improving his defensive play and I can assure you that when that's done, he will work on his offensive play and be a beast. Signing him 8x4.5M would be a bargain long term

Agreed. Romanov will either be 2-3x3M or 8x4.25M. I see Pitlick getting 2-3x2M. Petry will be worth a lot in a market like Detroit, Dallas or EDM (B Prospect + late 1st). Remember that Savard was worth a late 1st 2yrs ago

Habs realistic offseason
- Armia trade seems reasonable
- ARZ trade could work
- I don't think you can trade Drouin at this point. Even if you pay like that. There's still uncertainty with his wrists
- MTL won't trade any 1st or 2nd round picks for the next 3 years since they are in a rebuild. I also don't think that Winnipeg will llet him go
- The Marchessault trade could work but once angain, I'm not sure that MTL is willing to trade draft picks this year

I don't see the Jets trading Dubois since they need centers. And I don't see the Habs trading 2x 1st (Dvorak was obtained for a 1st pick) for Dubois. Especially if the 2022 1st pick is a 1OA. If Dubois does not want to sign with the Jets, then maybe they could trade his rights for Dvorak and the 2022 Calgary 1st (owned by MTL)

Habs 2022-2023
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jonh514</b></div><div>Nice team! A lot of fantasy here though unfortunately:
1) Chychrun trade... you gotta replace Fairbrother with Mailloux to even start this conversation. Plus the habs should not target Chychrun. They have enough young D and they need to give them opportunities to play
2) Letang is gonna get more than 7M/season, but the habs would be nuts to miss the chance to sign him because he's still amazing!
3) Habs should try to avoid a bridge with Romanov. He's getting better and better and if they can lock him down until he's 26 or 29 they should aim for one of those
4) Others were right, there's no way they dump Marchessault... but also Marchessault is not the right type of player to dig pucks out of the corners for Suzuki & Caufield
5) Gally has been playing well with his shifting responsibilities. I think he's gonna have a career year next year and everyone is gonna be back to singing his praises. You don't give up on a guy like that after 1 bad season</div></div>
1) Agree with you about the young D but I don't think any of them is ready yet. I think that including Mailloux would be an overpay
2) Maybe he will get more somewhere else, yes
3) I think he could get 8yr x 4.5-5 if we talk long term
4) I agree with you. Who would you suggest then? And for what?
5) I think you need to trade him for cap space. Caulfield is gonna cost a lot next year and I think Pitlick can do a better overall job (defense + offense) for a lot less
