Description
I am not a cap wizard so maybe this plan doesnt work at all....but Klef cap hit that is allowing us to spend more on a roster expires this year, can we get Weber for the next 4 seasons that woudl allow us to spend some more during McDavids time here to get the top goalie?

The next year Keiths cap is gone and can further address extensions on the RW or add to other areas....just ignore if this attempt doesn't work on the cap compliance

That's not how it works.

Edit: You can still only go to the cap...LTIR contracts don't technically count (Though they screw you when it comes to performance bonuses), but they also don't free up extra space in your actual lineup. The $12 mil that isn't affecting your cap is already accounted for here in LTIR.

Running a cap strapped team and having a bunch tied up in LTIR isn't great either, because a) they have to be activated for the first day of the season, and b) in the offseason, you can only go 10% over the cap.

If the Ducks add toughness, it will be through a player that's physical and skilled. They aren't adding a Kassian or they would've kept Deslauriers.

Wouldn’t work need to start the year with the player on the roster then move to ltir.

So only way to accomplish this is to have Kane come to camp on a PTO, then sign him to a deal once Weber can go onto LTIR?

Basically, a team can only 82.5m of "active" players on their playing roster for the year (calculated weekly). And as Lenny suggested above, bonuses can be affected and result in a carryover for the following season.

Thanks all for the education....here I was hoping LTIR could be a nice way to solve the tight cap spot Kenny put us in and still fill some holes

The max you could technically offer Kane with this roster is $818 k.

That 4th you wasted on Weber could be the next Savoie or Petrov.

Or it could be a bunch of guys no one has ever heard of....

Clearly the pick was to use to inflate Cap, which the thread above shows that wasn't allowable, so your post is irrelevant
