Not a fan of the Mittelstadt trade. I'd rather use him as part of a package for something big, than get a package for him.

Helps sabres hit the cap floor, and will be by far his best offer

Not really questioning the value, just don't see Cermak being available.

Only delusional people think he will be. Of course this is the same AGM where we see the Sabres trading a useful asset for Zack Kassian, so I can’t vouch for him.

JBB isn't moving Cernak, And it needs to be Buffalo's 1st round pick not Florida's. And yes i'm serious.

I just don't see Kuemper at 10M being a smart investment. Maybe overpay by a few million for a 2 year deal but 10M is pretty crazy. Besides that I like what you did here.. We need some toughness!

Jokes. If you are serious then there is another problem at stake besides Cernak's value/availability

Also @Shibbal18 , I know you don't like Mitts and you know I usually tell you that you made a bad trade, but McLeod would be a really solid return for him. I'm very doubtful that Edmonton would move him, even if it means dumping Kassian but you never know

Theyd be under the cap floor, the minimum they have to pay him on this roster would be 8 mill. Sabres also dont want a long term ufa goalie rn, with 3 prospects in the system, 1 nhl ready

If he apparently wants 32 mill over 5 years, i cant see him declining 30 mill over 3 years. This also gets buffalo over the cap floor and keeps the contract short, which is more important than cap space rn

Think more long-term. Consider that you have several rookie contracts expiring in those next three seasons. Power, Cozens, Krebs, Quinn, and Peterka immediately come to mind. Simply taking Kyle Okposo off the books will not be enough. Realistically the Sabres may only need a one or two year goalie band aid before Luukkonen is ready to play the majority of games, and Levi or Portillo are also pushing the depth chart for playing time. I am in favor of paying a legitimate number one caliber goaltender 5 or $6 million per season for up to three years, but not $10 million.

That's 1 year to worry about, with a rising cap ceiling, and if he's really not worth it they can buy him out, front load the contract to keep the buyout hit as low as possible.

I veto the Mitts trade, Mitts is better than both players and Kassian is mediocre on his best days. (Plus his contract sucks.)

Chop one year off the Kuemper deal and it’s fine. Essentially we have 2 seasons of major cap space and then we hit Dahlin, Jokiharju, Power, and more needing raises and we can’t afford to have a 10mil goalie then.
