Description
The Winnipeg Jets are at a turning point. They will fail to reach the playoffs for the first time in years. Much of there roster from their fairytale run to the western conference finals has moved on.

To begin, let’s talk about the coaching staff. Paul Maurice is gone, Charlie Huddy needs to join him in unemployment as well, it’s surprising to me that he has lasted as long as he has, but change needs to be made. That includes Dave Lowery, he can’t be head coach, but he should still stay on as a assistant. Jamie Kompon won’t be going anywhere soon, the organization loves him, and I believe he should get a interview for the head coaching position, as should Lowery, but they won’t get it. For head coach, two people stand out in my mind. Pascal Vincent & Alan Vigneault. Bruce Boudreau & Barry Trotz both would knock those other two out of the park, but I believe both of them will stay put. For arguments sake we will put Vincent as head coach for his experience with the club. Another name would be Rikard Grönberg, but I would be cautious making him head coach before any time in the NHL, so for this team he becomes Assistant Coach. So, our Coaching Staff is: Pascal Vincent, Dave Lowery, Jamie Kompon and Rikard Grönberg. Now the Guys in the press box, Craig Heisenger lead the moose to the playoffs, so he will stay put, but Kevin’s got some problems. Kevin Cheveldayoff has been with us from the start, building this team top to bottom, this year did have the Jets 1st in the central for a very short period of time, so we will give him a year, if we make the playoffs next year, he stays, we tumble down the standings again, bye bye!

Now for the main attraction, Players! Mark Scheifele, we all know the rumours about you leaving, so let’s make a team changing deal. I know what you all will say, Schneider is off-limits, but I did add Logan Stanley to the deal to help, and remember, you have Adam Fox. Out of Brenden Dillon, Nate Schmidt and Dylan Demelo, only 1 can stay, because of the salary cap, we will keep Demelo, that means Schmidt & Dillon will be out the door. The Schmidt trade is simple, Jets get their 3rd round pick back & Moritz Seider gets a mentor! The Dillon trade sees LA receive Dillon & 6th when Winnipeg gets Prospect Brock Faber & a 2nd. Faber is a great prospect, he has a great feel for the game and a hard working player. Most people have Dillon going for Helge Grans & a 2nd, but I believe Dillon has more value than that, so I changed Grans for Faber, the 6th evens things out. In this lineup, I don’t think Jansen Harkins will be able to get a fair start, so he gets shipped out to minnisoda for a 4th, I think he will get a better opportunity with them. Kristian Vesalainen needs a move, the Jets wasted a pick on him, he needs a new start, and Dallas could offer him that, I could see Columbus offering the same, but we will go with Dallas. The Jets have won in their last 2 drafts, and they will this year. David Jireck would be perfect for them, so I have them moving up in the draft, this trade sees them trading their 2022 1st, LA’s 2022 2rd & RFA David Gusstafssun. One of Morgan Barron or Gusstafssun can stay, and I will choose Barron every single time. This trade will move them up to Jireck.

If Scheifele is moved, Paul Stastny should re sign and move back to the Center position. I also re sign UFA’s Zach Sanford & C.J Suess. Sanford can make sure the third line can stay one of the league’s best & Suess can be a solid scratch. We sign P.L. Dubois Longterm and make him the #1 Center. We sign some AHL players and give Evgeny Svechnikov, Mason Appleton & Eric Comrie each sign 1 year contracts. After the seasons they had I believe it is too risky to sign them long term I also signed Faber & Dmitri Rashevsky, both will play for the moose and make the Jets next year. For the lines I have Connor-Dubois-Ehlers as the top line though I believe Svechnikov-Stastny-Wheeler should have similar ice time. Sanford-Lowery-Appleton can be one of the best 3rd lines in the NHL. Chytil-Barron-Perfetti is your 4th line. All 3 of them I believe will shuffle through the lineup and I can see Perfetti or Barron center the 2nd line. Morrissey-Demelo Can be a powerful Top D-line when Samberg-Pionk will also be a force. Heinola-Schneider will get the same ice time as Pionk and Samberg when Morrissey and Demelo will edge both out slightly. Comrie was better then all of us thought he would be, so he earned a backup spot, though after the season Connor Hellebucyk had, Comrie will have to pick up a lot more games.

Tell me what you think about this team, would they make playoffs?

Schneider isn’t being moved but also this is a Terrible roster. Moving a 6mx3 MS will make this team a lottery pick team instantly. You can’t afford to move him

Rangers really can't afford Scheiffel. For that price, sign a UFA, and if necessary trade someone off their roster. Kings can certainly sign a competent LHD for 3.9m and keep Faber. Same with Schmidt.
These signing of of high cap players and expecting good low cost players/picks ins return aren't going to happen very often. Just too many UFA looking for home

Detroit accepts, And the Rangers will probably just resign Andrew Copp over trading for Mark Scheifele.

Rangers pass as Schneider is not available, period. This won't change no matter how many times you post this type of trade.

This team isn't very good and would very likely miss the playoffs.

The lines are a bit messed up, IF this all happened Perfetti is probably on the wing with Ehlers and Stastny.

Wheeler stays with PLD and Connor and you pray Wheeler doesn't fall off a cliff and 80/81 can keep 26 productive.

That 3rd line is terrible, Chevys top priority for the offseason should be acquiring a better 3rd line that can actually score.

So that'd leave a 4th line of Svech/Chytil/Barron which would be okay I think but who knows if they get much ice time.

That defense is young and small, Morrissey/DeMelo is a weak top pair, might be the worst top pair in the league.

Helle should rebound next season so maybe he could save this team though he's not really that kind of goalie.

One year of Brenden Dillon for seven years of Brock Faber would be dreadful enough, and you think Los Angeles adds a 2022 second?!?!?

We shouldn't pay the draft pick alone for Dillon. I think we could re-sign Alex Edler for less than Dillon's cap hit, and we would probably get the same results without having to expend assets to acquire Dillon.
