Barzal will not leave NY, they are not a bad team (+.500) and they just have had an unlucky year. I am not too sure if DET will be interested in acquiring Schmidt, especially with that cap hit.

The Islanders aren't going to accept that trade. At the same rime Detroit isn't going to give up the much for a player in the final season of his contract.

Schmidt is worth a 3rd. Anything more and Detroit will target someone else.

Detroit needs a stop gap defenseman for a couple of seasons they have several D prospects with a to of potential.

Schmidt, Pettersson, or Martinez I can see Detroit add one of them.

Just give the Jets the third they lost acquiring Schmidt and we're good if he waives his NTC.

I don't understand the signing of Husso. In your team he is signing for more AAV than Neddy who has played more games, and is going to get Calder votes. Maybe you guys need a vet to back him up and act as a mentor, but I think you're set in net.

Fair enough but, I feel that Schmidt would not be that desirable amongst the other 2 due to his cap hit. Petterson would be really good though, considering DET can acquire him for the same price at a cheaper cap hit for 2-3 years (not to mention he is only 25)

Heck no on the Barzal trade, Robby Fabbri already has 3 torn ALCs in his knees his career might be over. And we're not trading Soderblom and Wallinder period. We don't need 4 years of Husso it shouldn't take Cossa 5 years to be NHL ready. Schmidt cost a single 3rd round pick that's it. And not dealing Veleno anytime soon.

Not a bad job all things considered-- but the Barzal trade is unrealistic (value and player). I also don't see why DET would pay so much for a largely unproven Husso-- just doesn't seem like something Yzerman would do. He was awful for 17 games last season but is great for 36 this year, just too much of a risk there. They pretty much already did this last year with an unproven guy in Ned, so why do it again? I'm a fan of Ned though; just need a better defense in front of him.

That is true but Detroit is just looking for a stop gap until some of their prospects are ready.

The cap is not a problem for Detroit. They can add both Schmidt and Pettersson and will barely be over the cap floor.

The BOS and NYI are not good and as others have said Schmidt will only cost a 3rd.

About signings: Wallinder needs another year in Sweden, if nothing else because there's a logjam on LD in GR. Sign Niederbach too if you're signing two of his buddies, there's plenty of room in GR for centres and it'll help all three of them.

You wouldn’t trade a Fabbri who’s potentially damaged goods for Barzal? You Red Wings fans are hilarious, ”hell no” trading away a 9th OA draft pick which you have to be really, really lucky to get a player like Barzal from. Then we have Wallinder and Söderblom who’s 2 good prospects absolutely, but no sure thing as legit top-4 d or top-6 forward which they will only be in best case scenario. Then we have Fabbri as you said yourself his career could pretty much be done as an effective middle-6 guy with 3x4 left. One season where Barzal isn’t a top-15 centre in the league which he was last year without me being biased and people think Isles are trading away their young star for much lesser value, it doesn’t make sense. It’s hilarious you Red Wings fans wouldn’t do this trade lol. With Barzal and Larkin as your 2 guys in the middle you would instantly become a contender.
