Description
The Sabres are moving in a direction where they don’t have superstar forwards, but are rather driven by the backend and a deep two way forward group.

Cirelli would be a great fit, and TB may want to recoup assets before not being able to afford him next offseason. Deal comes with a 7x7.5 extension for AC

I think that forward group is pretty deep. You disagree?

It's deap, not very 2 way. There is some but a lot are offensively minded more.

I don't know, it's probably a reasonable enough package for a guy like Cirelli, but something tells me that Tampa doesn't give two f**k's about picks or prospects. Honestly, I don't think they'll have an issue re-signing him anyway. $21-ish mill that summer to re-sign him, Sergachev and Cernak, and then fill in the other holes.

Plus, the idea of Tampa trading Cirelli in their own division to (eventually) run into him in the playoffs seems like a less than ideal plan.

People act like Jeff Petry is regressing but no he isn’t. Everyone was bad under Dom Ducharme and he has bounce back since he is gone. Petry is way better than Samuelsson Joker and Power (right now). Dahlin-Joker Power-Petry Samuelsson-Bryson&orPysyk(resigned) is better

Deep, sure. Two-way, not so sure. You make a good case for acquiring a young two way center like cirelli though.

I think the Sabres already have a Cirelli type player in Cozens, no need to trade for him and spend the extra money. I believe Mitts could be traded though.
