Wild Fans what would it take for Fiala

Created by: rednwhite
Team: 2021-22 Detroit Red Wings
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 21, 2022
Published: Apr. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
What would it take to land Fiala? Obviously Detroit isn't willing to move Larkin, Raymond, Seider Edvinsson, Berggren or Cossa but I think the rest of the team is fair game. Whats the ask?

People have wildly different opinions on what fair market value is for Fiala, but IMO, a 1st + solid prospect is definitely in the running of winning offers.

Red wings shouldn’t go for Fiala .

My opinion is that assets need to be applied toward 2C and Defense before adding another wing. Although I like idea of Fiala on the roster, think need address other areas first.

I'm not sure the wings should go for fiala. Is Minnesota going to be able to resign him? Would he sign in Detroit? Does Detroit need another undersized winger? Would fiala be able to score at the same or similar pace in Detroit?

So you are saying Detroit has no need for a 25 year old point per game guy? I think every team in the league would love to bring him into the fold.

There’s a lot of holes still to fill and you gotta trade 2 good pieces for him. Not worth it. That’s what happens when you try to push to compete too early

I wouldn't say there are a lot of holes to fill. They need a 2C, lots available in free agency and another LD in addition Edvinsson hopefully making the team. They could maybe use another guy in the bottom 6 as well. Detroit has a ton of prospects and has made a ton of picks the past few years plus will have another 10 this year. It is the perfect time to start moving some assets to add NHL caliber talent.

Best F prospects that you didn't mention above are probably: Niederbach, Soderblom and Mazur? Maybe the 2022 1st (9oa) and one of them is a good start. Will all depend how many teams are making offers for him to drive up the price or not.

We only need a legit 2C, The LD will be coming up shortly. So saying that Detroit needs to fill a lot of holes isn't necessarily true.

Wings need other things a lot more than they need Fiala.

We already have three of our top-6 wingers in Vrána, Bertuzzi, and Raymond. We have Zadina, Berggren, Mastrosimone, Mazur, and Söderblom that may become the fourth.

Fill the biggest holes first (LD and 2C) before thinking about trading for a winger. Be opportunistic if something shows up (like Kapanen) otherwise let Håkan Andersson find the last piece for us.

We need a temporary filling in two of our left molars.

I agree Detroit has some talent that can play in the top 6 but what's wrong with a guy who can score a point per game playing on the 3rd line. I agree to fill the other needs first, which I think Detroit will. I just wanted to see what Wild fans were looking for in return.

What's wrong is that the cost to acquire him would create more holes than you would be filling by getting him. It's simply bad asset management.

The Wild isn't going to accept a "quantity for quality" trade for him and we don't have a surplus of quality to offer.

The time to do a trade like this is when that trade, by itself, is the only thing that is missing for the team to compete for the cup. At such time it's acceptable to trade futures for the immediate gain but Detroit is still in a rebuild and the only effect a trade like this will have is to prolong that rebuild.
