On value alone, that Nico trade is probably fine. But I don't think I'd do that trade.

I think you move one of Nico/Wright/Mercer to the wing and enjoy the extra cap space/roster flexibility with so many guys who can be high-end centers when/if needed.

Matthew Tkachuk would be a winger I would overpay for.
Brings interior element...that would add a lot to our team.

Not sure I see the gap between Allen and Blackwood

NJ should just stay the course and not make any of these trades.

If the devils got wright I would trade him for Tkachuk, Tkachuk is probably one of the best possible wingers they could acquire

Because you're getting Tkachuk after the year he just had? 40 goals and 100+ points lmao

Wright is just going to be a better version of Nico imo, better goal scorer. He's a natural C and neither him or Nico really belong on the wing, don't need 2 players that are so similar.

I personally think this is a flawed teambuilding mindset. I'd stick Wright with Jack and Holtz longterm to provide jack yet another shooter and a 2-way force. I think almost every center in the league (with a few exceptions) are perfectly capable of playing wing. On the Devils in particular, only Jack should be stapled to the middle. Otherwise, I think the roster flexibility afforded by Nico, Wright, Mercer, Boqvist, Sharangivoch is far too valuable. Especially when two of those players are on ELCs.

Having lots of players you can move around at will is an advantage, not a disadvantage imo.

Compare their linemates. Tkachuks most common linemates were Gaudreau and Lindholm. Hischiers most common linemates were Zacha and Tatar

Maybe but trusting a Tkachuk isn't worth the risk.
