Think about this, the only real impact players you traded away were miller and garland. Let’s say Miller and garland combined are worth 10 wins! (Their not, maybe closer to 5 wins, but just for demonstration purposes we will pretend their worth 10). If you take away 10 wins (20 points) from this years Canucks teams, they are 7th last in the league, just behind Ottawa but ahead of Chicago. If you only take away 5 wins, then they would be 21st in the league, not even bottom 10!
If you’re going to tank you should go full tank otherwise you could throw away an entire year on getting the 12th overall pick and a handful of A- prospects while losing two of your top forwards
Miller single handedly carried this team at times this year. Really almost until closer to the end of the year and then Petey took off. I think the team above would be pretty bad. It wouldn't be too much different from the 2021 team who was awful.
Garland probably has lesser impact being traded as he doesn't play special teams.
The disparity in the league from top half to bottom half creates that gap of a 5 wins making little difference. I think Miller is worth 5+ wins alone.
Don't get me wrong, I don't believe they'd be the worst team with these moves. So they'd need lottery balls to land. But this team without Miller loses a lot of offense. Can Petey keep up PPG+ pace? Can Bo score 30+ again?
Even if they do, who replaces Miller's production? Miller assisted a ton of PP goals for Bo and ev goals for Petey.
If Schenn is moved as well, Demko might be on LTIR from getting obliterated from shots on net.
Maybe you also have to move Boeser and then you ask truly where the offense would come from and bottom 5 here we come.
