I thought Lapierre would be more highly regarded than that. Could go either way tbh. We do need center prospects, but we also need RD prospects, as Addison is the only one we have. But if Guerin is set on keeping Spurgeon and Dumba long term, it could be something we'd do. But again, I thought Lapierre would be more highly regarded.

Addison has been so dominant the past two seasons that I consider him to be ahead of Lapierre in terms of prospect rankings. I don't see why the Wild would do this, at least value-wise (not looking at positional need).

If Addison was 6'2" he'd be the PP1 QB for MN. He's only 5'10" and doesn't have a great all around game, so that hurts him.

There are enough D-men that are similar in height that are great players at the NHL level. I thought he played great in the games I was able to watch.

He's been good. The problem is Guerin has a real hard-on for size and toughness. It's part of the reason someone like Greenway gets an extension, despite being wildly inconsistent and not that great, and Fiala is potentially on the block.

Yeah, noticed that with Greenway as well. I think Guerin might see how well Spurgeon's doing and give Addison a chance next year because of that.

I can't remember if it was he or Evason, or perhaps a bit of both, but someone is on record as saying, basically, that Addison hasn't been brought into the NHL fold full time because the role he plays is similar to the one that Spurgeon and Dumba play. So as long as they're both here, it could be a while before we see Addison full time. Which brings us back to OP's trade. Although, I think a lot of Wild fans would much rather trade Dumba, keep Fiala, and have Addison step into the role next season.

Not that I disagree with you, because I absolutely do. Because we definitely need to add some more depth there.

But, we just literally signed Simon Johansson to his ELC and have Kyle Masters among our prospects as well. Both right shot RD. I'm not saying that either will amount to much if anything, but they are there within the organizational system. It's not just Addison there, he's just the only one of note.

Bottom of the lineup players are a dime a dozen. As prospects, and even as full blown NHLers. Hell, Guerin signed like 5 bottom pair defensemen to contracts in the last calendar year. So I only talk about prospects with top of the lineup potential, because those are the guys you can't just find on a sidewalk in Toronto.

So yeah, when I say Addison is our only RD prospect, you're right, technically he isn't. But he's the only one with apparent top of the lineup upside, so he's the only one that matters until proven otherwise.

And you don't draft guys to play in the bottom of the lineup. So when you talk about someone like Masters, they didn't draft him because they like his game for the third pair, they drafted him because they think there's a chance, however small, that he becomes more than that. And maybe the secondary motivation is because if he misses the ceiling, he might still make an effective bottom pair guy, but again, that's purely secondary.

Couldn't agree more. But that's what I figured you meant, anyway. Just thought it was worth pointing out is all.

Samsonov is a better option than Georgiev, absolutely not.

Schultz has played absolutely horrible, no way he gets a 3x3 in DC. Jensen is far better and would be at least on the 3rd pairing.

No thanks to the Bjugstad contract, let McMichael play C and and AJF at LW instead.

Schultz $3Mx3 I would be fine with simply walking away from Schultz completely.
