Scheifele on the Isles is just older, slower, and worse defensively Mat Barzal. There's no reason to make that deal on the Islanders end - throwing in a 7th D like Logan Stanley doesn't tip the scales back enough.

Very true with everything you said, but I really sweet talked my way to getting this deal done by stating that Stanley would be the next Chara with the proper guidance from the big guy himself.

I doubt Stastny would take a pay cut of that magnitude ($3.75 million to $1.5 million) on a one year deal given the season he had this year. You would probably have to pay him the same number that he made this season.

That type of pay cut is something you do if you are going to a cup contender, not the current configuration of the Jets.

Yeah I can't see Stastny taking this much of a paycut, really he's earned another $3M or more deal, he's had a good year, could probably find himself some term somewhere if he wants that too.

Not related to this but was looking at some team stats to see how some guys finished the season and its crazy the night and day difference between the Jets and the truly good teams, think they're probably farther away then many think they are especially considering Chevys track record with trading and UFA signings.

Yup the Flames have a killer top line and better scoring balance than the Jets. Zadorov, Gudbranson, Lucic and Lewis have the same or more even strength points as Lowry ffs!

Look at the Blues top 9, their 3rd line is MILES BETTER than the Jets is, eight 20 goal scorers and O'Reilly who missed 5 games had 19 so essentially every guy on their top 3 lines was a 20 goal scorer, even if Copp finishes the year in Winnipeg the Jets are still a couple guys short of that.

The Islanders don't do the first one and the Jets don't touch the other 2. Even though it would be cool to have a McCartney in the system.

Schmidt for a 3rd is more than great and Vesalainen for that McCartney kid? Why the hell not, Vesalainen isn't becoming an NHLer

I've watched McCartney when he was playing with the Brandon Wheat Kings. Great all round player who isn't afraid to get dirty in the front of the net and in the corners. Tkachuk style of game.

Yeah I messed up there and should have given him the same as this past year. My bad on that contract and I just updated the team now.
