Trade seems pretty counterproductive for the Canes

Canes pass. Pesce holds way more value to the Canes than Sheifele ever would. Besides, Sheifele would fail in Rod’s system. Canes also aren’t trading Necas.

Does a trade happen? I have no idea, but I do believe Scheifele could fit in if one happens. I think CAR's locker room and coach are strong enough to get Scheifele to buy in -- heck, they've kept DeAngelo in line.

I think the issue with Scheifele is that he has been mollycoddled by ownership, management and coaches in Winnipeg and putting him in a situation where he is not the chosen one would be a positive shock to his system.

Isles decline, Canes decline, don't have to pay to move Schmidt.

Would he be great offensively in Carolina, yes. But he isn’t needed as a Center since the Canes already have enough as is. Even with the Canes locker room, if he isn’t willing to buy in on defense, on a defense first team like Carolina, he will fail. Canes wouldn’t trade Pesce anyway, and Necas won’t be traded either.

If the canes get eliminated in the first round I could see them making adjustments and possibly wanting Scheifele but to get Pesce and Jarvis would would very difficult

You would be very correct. In fact, I believe Carolina is the perfect spot for Mark Scheifele. Would be a significant add for your org and the structure is there where he'd flourish

Just two summers ago, Jets and Cane both heavily considered an Ehlers for Pesce trade. With Canes abilitiy to bring in and develop D, and their neeed for a offensive threat, Remember this thread. Its possible.

That was also a one sided trade talk. The Jets were interested but the Canes were not. Canes aren’t trading Pesce until at the very least Heimosalmi is ready at the NHL level.
