Intriguing, but CBJ pass. They don't need more F depth. Need to clear out Fs, if anything.

Flyers are trying to get younger. There's no reason for them to do this.

Very unlikely the Jets do that. First Wheeler isn't waiving for Philly and second the Jets won't want to take back 2 older players with bad contracts if they move Scheifele. It defeats the purpose of moving him.

Flyers get worse on D and older on O, all while putting themselves in bigger cap trouble and sacrificing a first?

Not that I don’t like the return, just doesn’t solve enough issues for Philly to get them into the playoffs

Flyers will at worst finish around 10th last next year, assuming not literally everyone gets injured again

Idk man, I see Wheeler as a bad contract at this point and moving him for JVR would open up 8 mil of cap space for the year after next. Schmidt for Ellis is a potential upgrade on D and then we get Konecny and a 1st for Scheif. Run Dubois, Connor, Ehlers, Konecny, Perfetti and maybe Stastny, Svech, or JVR in the top 6, Morrissey, Ellis, Pionk, Dillon, Demelo, Samberg on D. We save a bit of money next year and especially the year after, plus potentially get better with the shakeup and gain an unprotected 1st round pick.

I really wouldn't hate this trade. It'd be sad to see Scheif and Wheeler go but this team needs a culture change.

Yeah, I can see some would like it, but for those who think Wheeler is bad, just wait until they get a load of JVR. They'll lose their minds.

I'd be completely out on Ellis though. He's breaking down already and struggles to live up to his contract now. So, as early as next year and for 4 more after that, his contract is an albatross. He just isn't aging well.

To be fair on Ellis, if he's gone to the point where he's not able to play, we put him on LTIR. He's a good player aside from the injuries.

But then the Jets have the same problem as they did with Little's contract. They can't accrue cap space. Ellis is a good player, he's just breaking down. I can't see how the Jets can gamble their best trade chip on such a risky player. He's good, but his contract outweighs the positives IMO.

Jets accept and run. Absolutely great trade for them. I doubt the Flyers would do it, though

Altough I tend to agree, JVR has only 1 year left, Wheels has 2. I'd take that deal immediately
