Geno doesn't have to retire, you can just leave him unsigned.

I personally think Marchment is a classic example of a player that will only thrive in one team (in this case Florida). Take him out from that team and he declines rapidly. Wouldn't pay him that much for a one off season.

You would need to add more for us to have interest IMO. As it stands I don't see any interest from CHI.

Would depend how much PIT would be willing to pursue Strome. There are going to be some decent UFA this off season they could target. His brother is one of them.

That's an interesting take on Marchment. I disagree, but do so hesitantly after hearing your argument since what you're saying's entirely possible too. Do you have anyone in particular in mind in that sense? (A player(s) with a similar game/age/frame who did really well with a team for one season, got paid as a UFA the following season, sucked after and made the signing look bad).

Ryan Dzingel and Brett Connolly are first that come to mind. Both thrived in OTT and WSH respectively, but after moving on never reached the same level again.

Some Kraken signings are in risk to belong in this list. They heavily spent on UFAs without getting that much back from them, but I'll give them the benefit of doubt for now as it's been only a year.

Admittedly, this happening is more rare than I initially thought.

Detroit passes, Dumoulin isn't what Detroit wants. Pettersson for a 3rd or we look elsewhere.
