Price LTIR opening cap for full rebuild

Created by: Super_Randy
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: May 6, 2022
Published: May 6, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
The first 3 trades are made between the end of the playoffs and the start of the 2022-2023 reason. The last 2 trades are made either during the 2022-2023 season or at the 2023 TDL. Roster construction is how the Canadiens finish the 2022-2023 season.

As title says, Price gets bad news about his knee and similar to Weber is no longer able to play and will therefore go on LTIR for the remainder of his contract (as I do not see him retiring and leaving millions on the table).

Montreal has nothing outside of Suzuki and their 1st that would make Calgary want to move Pelletier. So unless one of those things is on the table Pelletier is not available

So you'd bring back Kulak just to trade him again? That's a great way to get your phone number blocked by the payer's agencies.

Why would Edmonton do that?

One year contract and trade at the TDL. Lost of veterans do this. Makes a lot of sense from his perspective as well, as he doesn't have to move his family and gets a shot at a cup at the end of the season

Seen several EDM fans talk before about how they believe Drouin would be perfect for the wing with Leon

I believe you too but if I put the pick coming to MTL I would of been crucified so I tried to be realistic on returns to minimize being crucified.

.....so you made the trade even more unrealistic the other way?

I don't think it's even more realistic. Pelletier is an outstanding prospect and if the Habs traded for him alone it would cost more then a 1st. Swapping 3 years of Dvorak for 1 year of Monahan in the deal to gain more cap space for the 2023 off-season when plenty of big names are scheduled to hit UFA would be a smart decision.

Dvorak is worth more than Pelletier is. Dvorak is a bonafide .5+ ppg centre and one of the premier faceoff takers in the league.

Pelletier is a undersized winger who hasnt played a nhl game at 21 years old. Dvorak was a full time NHLer at the same age. Jakob is a good prospect but he isnt a top 10 or 15 affiliated prospect.

It will cost more than a 2nd to move Monahan. a 6.25 million cap hit that was healthy scratched this season.

Every time I've done a BAGM people say that Dvorak is a cap dump. Persoanlly I think he's a good 2C but most people on here for some reason treat him as a cap dump.
