Team: 2022-23 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: May 10, 2022
Published: May 10, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1) Forsberg will not resign.
2) Preds absolutely need rebuild.
They shouldn't wait one more season.
Next season is a great season to start it, due the fact that they will have a chance to draft Michkov or Bedard.
3) Likely no one big UFA wants to sign contract with Preds. But they don't really need it. So they need to use some of their cap space to trade for assets.

You want to rebuild but letting Forsberg walk and doing these moves will not be enough for you to have a chance at Michkov or Bedard

You need bigger sacrifices

Agreed. Even without Forsberg, this team is still probably a fringy playoff team.

Likely not in a tough central. They’d have to compete with DAL, MIN, STL snd COL. The pacific is only getting better as well. Not to mention if Winnipeg can turn it around next year. Nashville really is in a prime position to tear it down.

Nashville barely made the playoffs on the backs of career years by Forsberg, Duchene, and Josi. With Forsberg gone and Duchene/Josi not likely to repeat this seasons performance, there’s a solid chance Nashville ends up drafting 5-10 assuming you don’t get huge performances by the young players.

Now might be the time to trade Johansen with 2M of retention, he had a good seasons and looked back to his normal self

Just my thoughts, but I could easily see Minny potentially taking a step back next year if they are forced to move Dumba/Fiala. St Louis made it based on unsustainable goaltending numbers by Husso, who is far less likely to replicate those than guys like Duchene/Josi. Dallas will lose Klingberg, and were the only team to make the playoffs with a negative goal differential. Winnipeg rebounding would be pretty surprising as well, but who knows.

As a fan of a Pacific division team who was absolutely attrocious to watch this year, getting into that 5-10 range is hilariously difficult. Anaheim was brutal for 3/4's of the season, and still ended up sitting at 10OA. I just think your goaltending and defence are too good to think that you won't at least be in the fight for the wildcard...not saying you get in, but the roster above will still be a lot better than a lot of teams.

There were some stretches where we were playing bad enough to be in the 5-10 range. Last 12 we had a 75 point pace which would’ve been 10th. Games 41-50 we were on a 74 point pace. This season was held up by two 10 game stretches games 21-30 (131 point pace) and 51-60 (114 point pace). Take those two out and overall we would’ve been on an 89 point pace. That’s 13-14 pick range… lose one of your best players and you could drop a couple more positions.

Only way this team gets in that 1OA conversation is if Saros & Josi aren't playing next year. Those two dudes are good enough at what they do to keep this team hanging around the bubble regardless of what else is skating out there

Yes let’s be honest. It was only gonna take a 2nd to move Dadanov at the deadline but now it’s a first? Lol come on. He’s a useable player, I’m not saying we won’t have to pay to get rid of him but this pipe dream of a first is just that

Umm STL made it because of nine 20 goal scorers and incredible special teams not unsustainable goaltending...
