Seems to me Devils lose both trades.
I'd be very disappointed if Fitzgerald went through with any of these if offered.

I don’t see how San Jose wins in a landslide in the Meier trade. You aren’t getting a Bedard, Michkov or Fantilli level player. I’m not sure I would do it honestly.

Logan Cooley is a projected star, plus it'd be great for the rebuild to get a younger player with more potential.

The Hill trade is pretty even imo, but I do agree that the Meier trade is a bit lopsided.

Except they continue to say they aren’t rebuilding so they aren’t trading their best player this year 1 for 1 for that pick.

Meier trade is probably a bit lopsided but the Sharks wouldn’t add much if anything either. There’s no pressure or need to move Timo in the first place so we won’t be keen on adding value.

There is no extension before the draft. Meier cannot be extended until July 13th.
Devils are 100% not trading the 2nd overall pick for a 1-year rental.

The nuance here is that Meier would be traded to a young up-and-coming team where he would play alongside his fellow countryman and great friend Hischier, with whom they've absolutely torn it up together at different international stages (including again these last few weeks). I think it's wild to think that Meier would insist on 10mil when he's already in this most ideal situation and knows he knows he's not a 10mil player but instead an 8mil-8.75mil player.

I didn't say anything about the $10 million.
But if he is dealt before 2022 draft, he cannot be extended beforehand.

July 8 Draft
July 13 First day he can resign

Does not mean they cannot have deal ready before trade. Or a verbal agreement.

But I still do not believe NJD would trade #2 pick for him.
