Idk. I dont think Kadri would sign for 5.5 even if it did mean going home to Toronto.

Probably saved time from doing the typical Mrazek and a third, or Holl for a 4th or Kerfoot for a 3rd/4th.

Quicker to put them on LTIR and everyone can assume they've been moved.

So, after an incredible career year, Kadri signs for 5.5AAV to go back to the third line where he struggled mightily?

Yeah I ran out of time while doing this to bother trading the ltir guys. At one point I was thinking a trade of two firsts, mrazek and a prospect for Gibson with 3 mil retained but hadn't put much thought into it yet.

You're likely right. I was in a hurry to get out the door before reviewing this in earnest. But if they don't sign Spezza, and squeeze half a mil off somewhere else like 1 year less with liljegren, they could make kadri's offer 7 million.

At that value, I change the lines to be Nylander, Kadri, Tavares and put Kampf down to the third line again.

Time savings honestly. Was running out the door. I'd be trading them away which could obviously result in roster changes but ran out of time to think about them.

You're right about Kadri just like the other guy was. I worked out what I'd likely do with Kadri in my other response. Could also do my theorized Gibson trade to save a million and still make his deal 7 million.

Yeah, I'm thinking more along the lines of 7 million at 2c and moving Tavares to the wing with Kampf moving down to 3C

That's a pretty bold statement. He still obviously loves the city after his most recent players tribune. Loved playing for Toronto. There may be some bad blood there with Dubas but I suspect it'd be water under the bridge to go from one contender to another.

He could get paid somewhere big bucks to play first line. Why would he go back to a team struggling to even making it past the first round? Regardless if he likes the town or not, he’s gonna go somewhere he gets paid and has a chance of actually winning.

They lost to the two time Champs barely, and the bolts are presently dummying the president trophy winners. I wouldn't say they're hurting. And with Kadri back where he's not centering a team with Tyler bozak as their first line center while still bein paid first line money, i dont think itd be as tough as a sell as youre making it out to be. But it's all moot. We aren't actual gm's and I'm not a close confidant of Kadri
