Trades
1.
NYR
  1. Gylander, Carter [Reserve List]
  2. Smith, Givani
Additional Details:
Rationale: Rangers dump a bloated contract at the cost of a talented but ultimately expendable young defenseman. (Jones is great but has no path to ice time in NY and would never be able to reach his true value because of Fox on the one PP the team runs) In return, the Rangers get MUCH NEEDED cap space, Givani Smith who can play the rough and tumble role Reaves occupies at ~$1MM cheaper, and an NCAA goalie prospect as a little lottery ticket.
2.
3.
NYR
  1. Gurianov, Denis [RFA Rights]
Additional Details:
Includes Khudobin going to a 3rd team for extra cap relief
4.
NYR
    Anton Khudobin @$863k

(as part of the Gurianov deal, DAL sends Khudobin and a 2022 NYR 6th to DET for DET to retain 50% on the already 50% retained Khudobin, whose cap hit is now $863k and able to be absorbed by NYR)

I'd sooner gargle motor oil than take Nemeth back. Detroit declines.

Reasonable because Nemeth sucks but Zac Jones is would be a seriously good fit to pair with Seider and Nemeth could be bought out if you can't stomach 82 games of him.

We already have Edvinsson, Johansson and Wallinder on the way.

Ah, I forgot that every prospect is a guarantee and that teams shouldn't try to make reasonable upgrades to hedge against the possibility that one doesn't end up working out. My bad.

I think that Copp contract works.

I think Jones is an overpay. Would rather do a 2nd or Kravtsov or something. Could see that being ARI instead since DET is kind of in their build stage now.

NYR have no need for more top 6 wingers. Need to start Kakko and Laf in there, can move them down at the deadline if needed.

Khudobin is retired, just staying on LTIR for cap reasons. would rather try and sign Griess or someone who will come in under 1.25 per

NYR have no need for Lizotte, since Goodrow is a center.

I love Givani Smith and would love to get him an NYR uniform soon, not sure how.

I think Reaves is staying next year, not endorsing it though.

When you start sniveling like a 4 year old, you've lost the debate. We're done here.

Do you really come on CapFriendly do "win" debates? You have 1,783 posts since May 2020. Try winning a few less online debates and spend a few more minutes touching grass.

Khudobin might retire or be on LTIR for the season, so I don't think Dallas uses assets to move him until more is known there. Buying him out wouldn't be very expensive either.

From a hockey standpoint, I would try to find a way to bring back one of their RD prospects instead of Kravtsov, since there isn't much there in the pipeline and we need a long-term solution to Klingberg leaving. With Fox and Trouba getting big long-term money, one of the young guys appears to be the odd man out.

My Nemeth trades have always been with Kravtsov as opposed to Zac Jones, as his path is even more nonexistent but this works too.

I still think Reaves stays next year because of how much the team and front office loves him. Should be able to just swap Lizotte and Smith for him and Kevin Rooney.

I don’t see Kaapo Kakko receiving a smaller bridge contract than Filip Chytil. This is where I start to see Denis Gurianov becoming non-affordable. Khudobin’s future is also a giant question mark but thats nitpicking on my end. You would only make that trade if you’re sure he’ll play. This ACGM seems to be under that hypothetical.

Good job overall though. You still hit all of the needs and goals for 2022-23 but I think it’s a little too optimistic for the salary cap, especially if you’re fielding 23 players.

Feels like you can just swap Zac Jones and Vitali Kravtsov in the trades listed here and it probably works.

As much as I hate to say it the nemeth trade makes sense for Detroit if yzerman is planing on not actively trying to be better and hope for a top 3 pick in the next draft. I can see him running nemeth edvinsson walman and Jones out there on the left as much as I'd hate it.

Edvinsson and Johansson are already 100% NHL ready, And there's a good chance both are in Detroit's opening night lineup.

I thought Jones was a LD? Dallas is pretty set there. What would it take to get Lundkvist?

Jones can play both sides but LD is his natural position.

I’ve always had Nils Lundkvist an echelon above Jones/Kravtsov in the prospect pool, but considering that he lost his starting job to Braden Schneider, I would accept the swap
