Him being waived was when we all knew the organization was done with him. His M-NTC makes it where the teams he can go to are limited and the ones who arent on his list are not gonna want him without some serious compensation. They are not gonna keep him especially with his groin issue. Buying him out is not expensive and allows them to keep Campbell which is priority #1 going into the offseason

Teams look at actual dollars vs. the cap hit in most cases. Basically Mrazek's contract is a bad one where he becomes more expensive later on. A team who takes that deal on is gonna ask for heavy compensation as there is no SB to lower the money and these kinds of deals are not liked by GM's.

So in the end hes gonna cost 2 2nds and a conditional 3rd to potentially get rid of. Not worth it.

Teams who Dubas will try and Dump Mrazek on will ask for a big return. If we look at a past example one year of Marleau cost a 1st, Ladd cost 2 2nds, basically guys with 1-2 years left were expensive to dump with the cost being at lowest a 2nd.

Mrazek has 2 years left and when we look at a comparable Ladd costed the Isles 2 2nds and a conditional 3rd to move. Ladd had injury troubles just like Mrazek currently is. And so teams will probs use what is costed to get out of Ladd as the basis.

Better off buying him out and living with the 1mill cap hit followed by the 800k than 1.4mill the final 2 years
