You can't just throw lucic in and think they won't notice. He's too big not to notice.

They should look to trade Backlund too.

There’s plenty of good pieces and a team needs to send cap back for a year. They need to hit the floor anyways

The biggest hurdle here is Lucic's M-NTC, which I am certain would block a trade to Arizona. He has the power to list 10 teams he will accept a trade to this year, I think it's going to be near impossible to move him.

Pretty sure that dumpster fire Arizona isn't on Lucic's 10 team trade list. And Johnny Gaudreau and Matthew Tkachuk get closer to $10,000,000 x 8 years perhaps slightly more.

I think if Arizona convinced him they would flip him with retention a bit after, it happens

Or they can just deal him to a team that's on his 10 team trade list.

Yeah you're right Arizonas need for bodies there might make lucic a more palatable piece.

You think he'd rather risk that, and deal with moving cities and teams twice, than just stay with the Flames? I just don't see it.

Neither gets 10M. Same reason Point didn't get 10M after leading the team to 2 straight cups

Arizona going after Lucic makes so much sense, Looch is literally owed 875K next season so his deal is super cost efficient.

The issue is more if Lucic will waive to Arizona

He's a very humble guy, maybe not Arizona but I doubt he blocks Seattle or Anaheim, plus he's already waived his clause twice

I guess it comes down to if he's ready to give up competing. If he wants to contend, he won't waive to leave Calgary IMO. If he wants to coast the rest of his career, then he might waive for those teams.

Maybe. 2.6M at the deadline is not hard for most playoff teams to add.

It's not hard to add, but not like Lucic is a hot commodity..

If he wants to compete, I just have no idea why he'd uproot his life in Alberta of 6 years, play for a **** team for most of the year, and *maybe* a playoff team trades for him instead of just staying in Calgary where he's built a life and will be a playoff team.

Ben Chiarot got a kings ransom, nick Deslariers was picked up too. Those types of players are very often sought after at the deadline.
