SHARKS OVERHAUL Pastrnak to SJ Meier to NJD Burns to DAL Roy Offer Sheeted

Created by: CheechYou
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 7, 2022
Published: Jun. 7, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Sharks can sign Marchment instead of offer sheeting Roy as well but Roy is better and prying a very good player from Vegas even if it takes a 2nd makes the offer sheet more favorable IMO, as a sudden image of Cartman drinking Scott Tenorman's tears pops in my head.

Is Eklund center or wing? Because if he's center, this could be of interest

Not bad. But none of those players are a Center. Plus, neither Eklund or Wiesblatt had particularly good seasons.

I think both these guys at the very least can, and have played center.

If the sharks take out labanc, i think this is really interesting.

Interesting. I /think/ the Devils do this? I'm gonna see what this looks like on the Devils side.

Eklund can play center too. Jury's still out on whether he can/should play center in the NHL but Sharks management has been very open to the idea (in fact, I remember them saying they envisioned him as a center in the long term). He started as LW last year much akin to the way Hertl was introduced as a winger then later developed into a center as he got more comfortable in the NHL.

The Bruins need centers. Not project centers.

I’m fully against trading for pasta. Bruins will want a haul for him. Too much imo for what the sharks should give up.

I mean, Bruins need center prospects (if they trade Pasta, I think you'll agree they're looking to rebuild and not win now), and a 19 year old center prospect trying to make a living in the NHL is a project by default. If Eklund was 22 I get what you're saying, but Eklund has star potential like Pasta, and in this case, we don't care if Pasta's a C or LW -- you sign a UFA center in later years if Eklund turns out to not work as a center and plays better at LW.

Totally fair take. I think in general, judgment of SJ's moves will rest so much on other moves they choose to do and also what they're able to do (i.e. Burns/Karlsson's willingness to waive and what happens with Kane's grievance). That's always a given in the NHL but it's even more so for SJ -- uniquely, I'd say -- given their precarious status as a team that's neither mostly young/old, mostly competing/rebuilding, cap situation, etc.

To associate the Beecher "pump" with every Bruins fans is incredibly ignorant.

You already said yourself that Eklund is a project at center. The Bruins wouldn't trade Pasta for a high-end LW prospect.
