The Ducks just hand over $10m in salary cap over the next 5 years because it’s the Leafs? The package might do it without the retention.

You're asking Anaheim to: trade their starting goaltender; retain $2.5M a year for the next FIVE seasons; throw in a roster player; and add in a 6th rounder, and that's all you come to the table with? A package headlined by a pending UFA and a prospect that can't stay healthy? Anaheim easily, easily passes unless you offer them something worthwhile.

That doesn’t even cover the retention you want on Gibson tears of joy

A rental mid six forward, the goal scoring version of Jeremy Bracco, a prospect who’s biggest impact will be in the AHL a late first and a third doesn’t get you 12.5M in retention let alone actually getting Gibson too

So Anaheim essentially eats $12,500,000 x 5 years on John Gibson, Yeah i don't think so. Only decent pieces are Robertson and the 1st the rest you can keep.

That doesn't get John Gibson at full value, let alone Anaheim eating $12,500,000 for 5 years. Pretty horrendous for Anaheim if you ask me.

Gibson has been complete **** for 3+ years now. Please stop linking him to the Leafs.

Let the Ducks keep him. Their fans seem to be quite happy with mediocre goaltending.

That’s what it costs for Gibson WITHOUT retention. With retention it is going to cost a lot more.

Ducks fans realize that Gibson has played the second most game of any goalie over the last 5 years and has faced the second highest amount of shots over that span for a team that has been a bottom 10 team in the league over those 5 years

If he was as you say "****" and "Mediocre" why is he the most traded for player on this website right now?

So who's played the most games and faced the most shots in that span? Has his (or their) game descended into complete mediocrity? And from what I see, he's only started 60 games once in his career. If he crumbles under that "workload", thanks for providing more reason to stay away from him.

I have no idea why so many people want him traded. I'm on your side though, I hope he stays where he is.

Hellebuyck who plays for a better team, has also seen his numbers dip.

I've been saying since all these Gibson trades started it makes no sense for the Leafs to trade for him, but the Leaf fanbase on here seems to be obsessed with the idea

Buying out Mrazek and signing campbell to a 5x5 contract would result in the following cap hits for TOR

22-23 > 6,033,333
23-24 > 5,833,333
24-25 > 6,433,333
25-26 > 6,433,333
26-27 > 5,000,000

The same or less AAV of Gibson for the duration of his deal without giving up any assets

By a mile the most efficient way for the Leafs to handle their goalie situation, but that makes too much sense and trashing other fanbases and players is easier and more fun

Gibson has also been fairly bad the last couple of year, to suggest he gets much more than a first is probably wishful thinking.

It doesnt make sense for ANA to move him unless Verbeek gets completely blown away

Gibson is still insanely valuable to ANA

I'm not disagreeing that he is unlikely to be going anywhere unless it's an overpay, but I'm just saying that's a solid package that is presented.

The Ducks arent trying to win next year so Kerfoot is of little value, our LW depth chart long term is Milano, Comtois, Pastujov, Tracey, Jones, Steel and Robertson at best slots in 5th there if he can figure his game out, if he doesnt he goes to eurpoe like Bracco, Abramov's biggest impact will be on a 4th line or in the AHL

I dont see that being a solid package at all for what ANA needs and would want in a Gibson trade

I suppose you could change out Robertson for another first if you want, and flip Kerfoot or just have Toronto trade him themselves.
