Oilers realistic offseason if holland is willing to get rid of keith contract

Created by: matteot94

Description
KEY NOTES

Forward core
-top 3 offensive core in the league arguably the best
-ZAA gives great defense and is a guy who can throw the body and throws it lots
-deslauriers is a tough guy so u have a good balance of skill speed and grit
-if debrincat isnt an option u can always sign someone like kane, nichuskin or a niederiter

defense core
-getting rid of keith and barrie automatically makes ur defense better
-lybushkin was one of the best rush defense guys in the playoffs and he also throws the body a ton
-kulak is from alberta and would def take a bit of a discount to stay
-if bouch can be average defensively and broberg has a decent rookie year this defense improves drastically

Goalies
-theres really no clear #1 options in the net on the market but husso was a very good goalie last year and has potential to turn into a good starting goalie
-skinner was for awhile the oilers best goalie despite not playing and is ready to at least be a backup or maybe get between 20-35 games this year

this team now has solid depth and can run all 4 lines and all 3 defense pairs are reliable with 2 goalies who can really run away with the net. going into the 2023 trade deadline the oilers will have 5+ million to work with and if broberg isnt doing it you could always go all in on a left shot dman

The problem is the reason your putting them into the CAT proposal is the same reason its not enough for us to accept this sort of offer. A lot of quantity without the sort of quality or high end potential we would want in return for a guy like DeBrincat.

Overpay for debrincat imo because his contract will kick in next which we won’t be able to afford then you add in basically losing three firsts

Had the cba not changed with waiving the nmc then he could be forgiven but Keith still keeps his NMC and hes happy playing close to home. There's maybe a half dozen places he may accept to go but certainly not a rebuilding club, he only waived to go to Edmonton because Chicago was rebuilding

A major reason for the trade request was to be closer to his son in BC (mentioned in articles by NBC5 and WGN)

You named this as a "Realistic Offseason" and its quite possibly the most unreasonable thing I've seen lol. Realistic would be trading Barrie and Puljujarvi for sure...and hoping Smith retires

Wishful thinking
It’s not a video game dude
And this is quite the opposite of “realistic”
