If a player is a liability, then they don't have good trade value and won't fetch you a good return.

As it stands now, Anderson is a below-average player vs. his AAV, that's not rare, that's pretty common. He's bad defensively, not scoring points to make up for his AAV and he's 27, you're not going to sell a GM on his future capabilities as if he's a prospect. You've got to sell him on what he's accomplished and how he has played recently.

That's your opinion and it's not shared around the league. Frank Seravalli confirmed it, his contract is known as a bargain. Edm cant attract free agents and the McDrai window demands something bold in a cap crunch, sitting on prospects with ELCs while hoping they'll be an Anderson isnt going to cut it. He scores goals in the NHL, that is what they need, not hoping someone will score goals in the NHL like a Bourgault/Holloway.

I will go on and add this, IF Anderson's contract is so bad then why is almost every Oil fan trying to resign Kane to the exact same contract? I have seen Kane extensions on here of 5 years x 5.5 Mil. Kane is 3 years older, with similar stats and injury history and to top it all off comes with off ice baggage. Kane's PPG is higher but that is to be expected when your linemate is the best player on the planet and Anderson played for the worst team in the league.

Any reasonable Oilers fan that doesnt think Holloway and Bourgault are coming into the lineup to become an elite 3rd line scoring a combined 100 pts with Keith retiring, thinks the same as you then there is the alternative

I am so confused what this is supposed to mean.

Look, MTL don’t want to move Josh Anderson but teams keep calling for him. Pierre LeBrun said MTL turned down so serious offer before the TDL. So like or not, IF Anderson gets traded, the team acquiring him probably won’t like the price to acquire him

Chiarot brought a 1st + former 3rd RD pick Ty Smilanic + a 4th
Lehkonen brought former 1st RD pick Justin Barron + 2024 2nd rd pick
Kulak brought a 2nd RD pick + a 7th RD pick

People were saying Chiarot isn’t bringing a 1st RD pick alone
Lehkonen might get you a 2nd RD pick + late pick
Kulak isn’t getting a 3rd RD pick

Everyone were wrong, so I do believe that IF Anderson gets traded, it would be a good return for MTL

All the insiders have Anderson trade value as high. He went for much more than people thought in 2020 when ppl thought Domi's value was higher than Anderson but Anderson returned Max Domi and a 3rd despite Anderson having a career high of 47 points.

People keep mentioning that he only has scored 47 points so there's no value yet he has already been traded at a high value in Domi whom was coming off a 72 point season in 2019. Clearly, GMs around the league see more than a 47 point player and this is also misleading as Anderson is a goal scorer not a set up man.

Are we to believe that Josh Anderson will be setting up Draisaitl and Mcdavid? Of course not, he finishes chances with speed and size while making space on the ice. Scoring 27 goals and still being in his prime at 28 years old on a decent locked in contract til he's only 33 years old is of course attractive to a team like the Oilers as opposed to trading for someone older like say a Duncan Keith.

Holland has had his back against the wall in trade and contract negotiations with Edmonton not being the most desirable place. That is why getting a guy like Keith whom by every metric isnt good but wanted to play in Edmonton with a pedigree, this made him attractive to Holland. Saying a power forward with size, youth, speed, good contract, and pedigree in Anderson isnt attractive to Edmonton is simply foolishness.

People arent thinking rationally here but with emotion to say Edmonton wouldnt take Josh Anderson in a nanosecond.

These kids arent going to produce right away. Anderson scored 27 goals in Columbus playing on the 3rd line. There's no question that he could score 30 goals on the chances McDavid creates as he should be trusted on McDavid's wing. Hollaway played less than 3 minutes in his debut vs the Avs in game 4. He's not trusted but many here seem to think he will produce at a half point per game clip on the third line with Bourgault and McLeod. I love McLeod but that aint happening in any reality

Of course Anderson can score 30 goals on McDavids wing, McDavid could have a pylon score 20 goals. Look at Chiasson and Maroon, they became 20 and 25 goal scorers respectively on the McDavid line; Kane would have been a 40 goal scorer across a full 82 games.

I know a team is going to overpay for Anderson, it's just a matter of when.

You know who Josh Anderson has outscored in the past 4 seasons with that 27 goal mark?

Brock Boeser. That's right the guy who's due a 7.5 million qualifying offer.

If I told you that the Oilers could sign Boeser to a 5.5M AAV offer over 5 years and all they had to give a 1st, you wouldn't do it? That just shows the bias here with many calling Anderson a cap dump last month. Its crazy. I can pull the threads.

Canucks fans arent taking anything below his offer sheet return which is a 1st, 2nd and a 3rd.

Oh and Boeser plays on the top line of course and top PP. Anderson gets all his goals at 5on5, a place the Oilers struggle.

Lehkyis my guy, I ****ing love him, but players like Anderson are so rare that IMO he could fetch more than Lehky

Scarcity is a thing, ppl forget. Same reason goalies go for so little. There are about 2-3 starters that wont be moved then a bunch of question marks, they are interchangeable.

Personally I don't like the Anderson fit for the Oilers. I think there is a fit and the way they Oilers are structuring contracts lately I'd say we hae 3-5 years to contend before cap hell leaves us as a playoff team and nothing more or retool/rebuild. I think Kane fits better for the Oilers however that being said I don't think Kane will return and don't think the Oilers should force it. In this scenario here is my alternate proposal since I can absolutely see the Oilers trading for Anderson. In the event JP is traded. Anderson, 2022 2nd, better prospect - 1st 2022, Holloway, Foegle, Barrie as I think Kassians welcome in MTL isnt there. Not that I love this deal can just see the Oilers doing it
