Since they are more than 2 millions over the cap without any healty scratches, no they can't win it all

It's not terrible, they are some good idea in there but overall I do not think this team would win it all for 2 reasons.
1. That defence really isn't great relying on Cody Ceci as a Top 4 Dman is really scary, also I think you would have to pay to get rid of Barrie at this point he is a PP specialist who brings next to no value at 5 on 5 but getting a more defence oriented guy like Soucy is definitively a need. Getting a guy like Stetcher, Pysyk or Braun could be intresting

2. I'm not sold on Gibson analitcaly he has been not great for 4 years now and that's accounting for the defence in Anaheim, could bringing him to Edmonton and give him a chance to play for a really good team revive his career sure, it could , goalies are wild, but I am still not sold on it.

So basically I like where your mind is at but I'm not sure these moves are it.

No pressing need for Anaheim to trade Gibson for a first, a cap dump and three non-NHLers, including an LTIR list occupant.

If Duncan Keith retires, Oilers get a negative cap hit of 3.4M in recapture which gets added to their salary cap.

Please do your research before pretending to know hockey.

Keith isnt retiring. there are rumours of Smith which I doubt but believing both will conveniently retire is a bit much. Keith salary isnt a big deal hes been playing for peanuts comparatively speaking the last few years so that notion that he will retire based on the salary going down is just hearsay. They cant even threaten him with a buyout as there is just 500k in savings so they are stuck with him and his NMC.

Any ACGM I see with both retiring, I immediately think clown shoes

No this team can not win. I think the oilers are much further from being a contender than some think even despite their run this year. Their defense has major issues with ceci, Kulak and Soucy in the starting 6 and that’s assuming nurse does bounce back.

They barely beat in LA and then did well for 10 days against Calgary on the backs of Leon and Connor who played insane. You can’t expect that type of production from them every playoff at 3 points per game. Then they got swept by Colorado.

This team needs help on D, G (although I think Gibson here would be a good solution) and they need help in bottom 6 especially 4th line. Archibald, Foegele and Ryan makes me want to puke…

This isn’t an opinion either, it’s just a fact

The other pieces are just redundant but getting a 1st rounder for Gibson is always interesting last time a goalie got traded for a high pick was Schneider for a 1st which became Bo Horvat. Canucks fans arent complaining. Goalies especially ones that have been dreadful over the last few years arent a hot commodity.

What high pick? You’re offering 29th OA, Schneider was traded for 9th OA.

Keith waived his NMC to be traded to a cup contender and a possible fourth cup, only to retire the year Edmonton possibly wins the cup? No way that happens.

I believe Dylan Strome’s qualifying offer is north of $4.5 million, and he doesn’t play wing. He doesn’t consistently go to the wall to get the puck. He also doesn’t play defense consistently, although he has gotten a little better. Why do you think Chicago doesn’t want him. If I were Edmonton I’d wait for Chicago not qualify him and then sign him to a short term UFA contract.

Did i say this was a high pick? Schneider for a high pick. You need to actually read what i said. Kuemper was traded for a late 1st. This is going for a late 1st which should be the going rate for most goalies in Gibson's class. The analogy was goalies that get traded for high picks dont typically return value.

Yes, you said the "last time a goalie got traded for a high pick" which implies you think that this is a comparable situation.

Try to be intellectually honest.

What are even arguing?
I said a high pick for Schneider. Never for Gibson. I saw immediately that someone could misconstrue what I said after posting it but left it because it should be simple to see a disconnect if any.
Obviously not.

Don’t get snotty with me, there’s no reason to. Sorry that your comment implied something you weren’t meaning to imply. You are correct that Gibsons best comparable would ever the Kuemper trade or the Andersen to Toronto trade.
