Sharks have no interest in a rental at that price. Can’t see why Carolina would consider that unless you add a bit.

i think take out the 5th and it’s not a bad deal! but Balcers is not far from Kerfoot performance wise and adding a potential starter/ 1-B guy on a good deal makes me hesitant but this isn’t a crazy onesided deal.

I wouldn’t do Kerfoot for Balcers 1-for-1.

Underlying/advanced stats far favor Balcers, who’s also an RFA instead of Kerfoot who’s a UFA. And that’s with Balcers on a bad SJ team coming off a down year himself. Despite that, Balcers also netted 11 goals in 61 games whereas Kerfoot potted 13 in 82.

Balcers also 2 years younger.

Depends on the rental, but Kerfoot definitely is not that rental.

A Hill for Kerfoot swap could be something.

Canes reject. Sandin holds little value to the Canes, and Necas won’t get shopped for a roster downgrade. Canes can just bring up a cheaper option to fill 3LD from a Chicago. Besides, if the Canes wanted Sandin, he could more than likely be had for about a 2nd round pick, if an OS is sent.

I think the framework makes sense. Necas value is not high at the moment and while I would think he would be moved in a bigger pacalge to get a legit upgrade, the move can make sense. Similar package idea to the Schenn JVR trade from 10 years ago.

Maybe it makes sense for Toronto, but it doesn’t make sense for Carolina. At best it’s a lateral move, assuming Sandin can even push Skjei out of the top 4, which is highly unlikely. If Necas is traded, it will be for a higher scoring winger, not a defenseman who doesn’t stand a chance right now of even getting into the top 4. If the Canes really need a young 3LD, Sellgren and Seeley are both ready or close to ready for the NHL. Moving Necas for Sandin, again, at best is a lateral move, but is more likely to be a net loss.
