Based on a trade that I saw

Created by: Goblues_Gocanucks
Team: 2022-23 Vancouver Canucks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 12, 2022
Published: Jun. 12, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
We are a little bit tight on the cap, but I think this is not only pretty good, but could do really good in the playoffs. The top 4 is really good, the goalie is one of the best and this attack finally ha some depth even if it's not perfect.

Easy no for the Leafs. 2 seasons of Nylander is probably worth more than 1 season of Miller.

You think Toronto would give up that much for a rental?

Paid the price to get rid of Myers' contract but not close to Carlo's value.

Ok no problem, what would get Carlo's value?

How about replace Nylander by Kerfoot and knies and add Toronto's fourth?

Marino, Kapanen for Boeser, 6th

Don't want Boeser, There are literally a dozen better UFA forwards to pick from (FOR FREE), and a dozen better RFA forwards to pick from given this trade suggestion.

Would definitely be closer but the Leafs aren't going to move Knies. I don't think a Nylander for Miller trade is out of the question but it's just likely to be much closer to a 1:1 type of deal. Miller will be better for the Leafs in that 1 season while Nylander will bring more to the Canucks across 2 seasons.

What? Myers doesn’t have negative value… Hoglander is the equivalent of a later 1st round pick and 15th overall this year plus a 3rd and a replacement in the lineup for carlo that’s easily accepted by the bruins

Myers doesn't have negative value if the salary cap doesn't exist or if you have only watched the games he played well. Myers is overpaid by $4M and is not better than a 3rd pair D. Even the worst executives in the league would ask for an asset to take that contract.

Anyways, Bruins re-signed Carlo last offseason and he's part of their leadership group. They won't trade him until at least 2024.

I would disagree, First of all hes a big RD, that is a highly sought after commodity, next hes a shutdown defenceman, he is overpaid but more like by 1.5-2m and is a 2RD on a lot of teams. he would fetch an asset but there might need to be some retention or take back a not great contract.

Nothing reasonable. Its just flawed logic. First off, you said the blues are headed towards a rebuild, i assume you meant bruins?

If so, not necessary true, but even if they were, why is moving carlo a part of that equation. I’ve seen this so much on here and it makes absolutely zero sense. “Bruins might be retooling, so lets throw mediocre futures at a 25 year old thats signed for five years.” That kind of asset is part of a rebuild, not someone moved to facilitate it.

Carlo has term and I don't think he's going to get moved even though the Bruins are rebuilding or contending

Shuts down what? Canucks consistently give up more chances than the average 2nd pair D with Myers on the ice. He's a 2nd pair RD on the Coyotes, Sabres, Blue Jackets, Canadiens, Senators and maybe Predators. Mostly rebuilding teams so no he isn't a second pair D.

Would be glad to be proved wrong by the Canucks so let me know when he gets traded with 2 years left at $6M with a M-NTC.

Last I looked he was was down 50 percentile war on Justin Holl. If you retained 50% you might be able to move him for positive value. But you never know when you might find a dumb gm. Risto trade comes to mind.

I would be surprised if he was traded at his full cap or without his full value.
Shut down Mcdavid?

About 3/4 of the way through this season. He's an nhl Dman but at this point he is essentially bottom pair making top pair money. Vancouver just isn't in a position to move his money. Now with OEL's contract in the mix it's going to be a long wait to properly address the blueline.

I find that interesting, because I am hearing that he could fetch an asset as long as we take on an asset or has some salary retained.

He played well for most games this season, not just 3-4 games, just because he doesnt put up the offencive numbers doesnt mean that he is a bad defenceman

Played well for a 3rd pair defenseman, yes. He shouldn't be on the second pair on a championship team.

Championship team no, but 80% of teams aren't championship teams.
