if B's were gonna move debrusk for a 2nd they would have done it already, they won't be moving a guy who was on pace for 50+ points if he was playing top 6 minutes all year and had 22 EV goals which was more then these so called elite snipers in Svechnikov (21), Nylander (21), Brady Tkachuk(21), Buchnevich(20), Rantanen(20), Anders Lee(19), Wilson(18) + more guys, for a 2nd. Now im not saying debrusk is better then them but debrusk is a really good 5v5 goal scorer and his worth is more then a 2nd.

Im also gonna assume since he signed a 2 yr deal he is probably fine with staying in Boston now especially with Cassidy being gone who he didn't like.

Anyways their is better ways to clear cap then moving debrusk. Reilly, Grzelcyk, Forbort, Nosek will all be put on the trade block before him, they can also just buyout foligno.

I highly doubt bergy takes more then 3.5 mill aswell he wants to compete and win a cup this is most likely his last year so i wouldn't be surprised if he took a 2-3 mill deal so we had cap to spend elsewhere.
He already said he won't play for anyone but boston so i wouldn't bet against his loyalty shining again and taking a very team friendly deal

I honestly like the points you made. I just thought Debrusk wanted out despite his success and yeah, I could definitely see Bergeron going a bit lower on money, and I could have probably added a spec like Nolan Foote or someone like that with Debrusk, kinda undervalued him it looks like. Thanks for the feedback as well!

If DeBrusk really wanted out of Boston he wouldn't have signed a two-year extension and he wouldn't have stuck around Boston after the season to spend time with teammates in the city.

A 2nd sounds about right for DeBrusk. Not sure he fits the type of winger that Devils are seeking. We need:

(1) a net-front, big-body-soft-hands type to tip, deflect, screen, clean up rebounds. (Examples: JVR or Hornqvist in their primes, Chris Kreider today).

(2) a puck-retrieving physical winger, who can put a little physical pressure on defense, battle in corners, win pucks, but still have enough skill to play up and down lineup.

(3) a goalie

(4) maybe another depth/veteran defensive dman.

The two year walks him right to UFA, so If he grumbles more, he's probably out at the deadline. The extra year of cost certainty may make him more valuable to trade, though $4m is no bargain

Yes it does, but what does that have to do with him wanting out of Boston? Also $4 million for a guys whose been one of the top 40 goal scoring LW is a pretty solid deal

Two years is not much of a solid commitment from either side ... for $4 mil, it was reasonable for him to shut up, appear to be happy enough, play out his contract & see what becomes available. Acting disgruntled only hurts him down the line when it really counts at UFA. Good advice from agent.

His QO was more than $4 million. He could have easily refused to sign anything less than his QO and if Boston said no he'd become a UFA and could sign wherever he wanted. He was even asked about signing a 2yr extension and he said he if he wasn't ok with staying in Boston he wouldn't have signed it.

That sounds terrible. Why would you even ask when you know the answer?
