You think that two years of Nylander at $6.9 million is worth 4 years of Chychrun at $4.6 million to a team that is rebuilding without any hope of contending in the next 5 seasons and will be playing at ASU soon?

so the Sens are just taking on Mrazek what... as a favour to the Leafs? because they think it'd be funny to run 4 goalies?

Could add two firsts to that Arizona deal and probably still be out bid by another team.

I don't think Nylander for Chuchyrun makes sense, but to say the value is that far off is patently incorrect. It's just not what Arizona is looking for. I think that trade hurts the Leafs more than helps them.

-Nylander to the Coyotes doesn't make sense because they're gonna be a lottery team the next 2 years with or without them. If they're moving Chych, it's for futures, or roster players with RFA rights still.

-Calgary doesn't make any moves until they know how much/how many of their big name guys are sticking around. I could see them making this deal if *every* one of their contingency plans fell through, but I don't think that's likely.

-Just bury Kyle Clifford in the AHL. No one is going to give you an asset for that guy.

-Ottawa doesn't need another goalie. The only team that really makes any sense for Mrazek is Chicago - so send him there or buy him out.

-Simmonds has no value - but you can bury him in the AHL if you really want to. But again, no one's taking him on, even for free.

except it is far off. Nylander is a 2nd line winger being paid top dollar for what he brings and only has two years left. Chuchyun, if he returns to his normal form, is a number 1 dman, making half what a normal #1 makes. Sure two firsts was more to prove a point than the actual value missing but its a pretty big difference. And then as you said Arizona is looking for picks prospect not an established winger.

I'm ok taking on Mrazek if you take Nikita Zaitsev, someone you're familiar with

Nylander easily outperforms his contract by every available metric there is. Chychrun didn't reach his last season. Forwards, in general, tend to be more valuable than defencemen anyway (not my statement, holds true based on salary, win shares and lots of metrics). I personally think Nylander > Chychrun but you can like your own guy better for sure. I still think the trade is bad for both sides.
