I disagree with Rossi being a defensive liability. He was fine in his own end in Iowa. He should be their 2C next year. Personally I think he can handle it.

Rossi will be fine lol. He’s got that it factor lol

So, you have to take into consideration a few things.
1. Everyone knew the Islanders were in a cap bind thanks to Ladd's deal and the potential of a threat of arbitration by Toews. Teams used that as leverage hence why Lou only got 2 2nds.
2. Regarding Leddy, Detroit wanted to end their playoff drought and used their boatload of cap space to take on Leddy with no salary retained. To compensate for Panik, they gave us the 2nd rounder.

Each scenario is different. I disagree with your primary statement. Lou doesn't give 2 ****s about seniority. Exposed Eberle 2 years after signing him. Traded Leddy, a Trotz favorite. Exposed Bailey instead of Beauvillier. Fired Trotz with 1 year left on his deal.

Look ur not the first person to tell me this. But let me ask you something? Why did Lou spend 20 million dollars on Leo, Hickey, Eberle and Lee? Cap issues were self inflicted and he shouldn’t get a pass because of that.

I like Jost but he’s not productive. I don’t understand it.

I don’t get it either, makes no sense to me. Kids got talent and gets chances but can’t bury.

Freddie and Boldy were complete no shows against the Blues. That left Fiala often trying to do everything by himself. Blues let Fiala dangle around the zone until they could get 2-3 guys on him to pinch him out for a TO. While Freddie / Boldy sat and watched Fiala. Give Fiala two good linemmates and I see 90+ or more points from him consistently. If I were BG, Fiala would not be traded, he’d already be re-signed.

Trade Dumba since you could get a lot for him anyway.

Kurz was wrong to say that. He thinks he’s the smartest guy in the room. He’s that co worker who has the wrong takeaway from every situation.

I mean, we don’t know that he’s wrong about that yet. Raty could end up being a bust and then he would be right. He could be great sure, but it’s not certain.

Thanks for bringing up that first point especially. Toews had the team over a barrel - between the Ladd deal and the flat cap that nobody expected, it basically came down to needing to pick 2 out of Ryan Pulock/Mat Barzal/Devon Toews. I still think he made the right choice - Barzal wasn't going anywhere and Toews had only played 116 games to that point and merely looked like a solid top 4 piece, not a potential Norris guy. If the cap had kept going up by the $2-4M it had been going into the 2019-20 season, we're not having this conversation, because I'm pretty sure you would've been able to keep all 3 without any issue.

Kurz is half the reason fans think Bailey had negative value. Changed his tune when every source he had told him he was wrong.

That’s not what everyone in MN reported last season. That’s supposedly why he was never called up, he was a defensive liability.

Comes down to the fact Lou set money on fire for guys who didn’t play a premium position. End of story.

That didn’t seem to help him last year in Iowa on defense.

I also predict Bailey will get moved this offseason.

He’s got star power. Won’t matter if he is tbh since he’s so gifted offensively.

This is 100% what I would do. But I don’t think we can get a lot for him. He’s been dangled for 2+ years and no one has met BGs asking price. Reportedly a 1st and a good prospect. I’d still trade him for a pick.

Two unrelated points. First AHL defense doesn’t make or break careers for top ten picks. Secondly I can only critique Lou for what he can control. So he is off the hook for Ladd.

It does not but it highlights there is an issue there and a concern. He’s not a lock to be a top 6 C, especially in MN. We’ve got a long history of moving defensive liability C’s to wing.

I get why minnesota would want Raty, but personally I’d rather be wrong about Raty than move him for Fiala with the 13th pick.

I’d take a bag of pucks for him personally. So if we get any value for him I’d be happy.

I’m very conservative when it comes to trading young talent. Two guys the isles needed most this year were Toews and Verhaeghe. You could throw Niederreiter and even Spurgeon into that category if you want to lol.

I don’t believe this is correct. He wasn’t called up so his ELC would slide back a year. Now it runs for the next three years instead of two years.

Yeah we need C’s badly. BG has tried getting us a legit top 6 C for years, with Dumba and failed. It feels like now he has ammo and a need (limited cap space) to pull the trigger on a bigger deal. Maybe he packages Dumba and Fiala for one.
