Muzzin is not a fit for the capitals. Won't have too much cap space unless backstrom retires, and if he did that money would instantly have to go to a 2c/1w. Goalie and top 6 forwards are bigger priorities anyways. MacLellan has also said the team will get younger, don't think they would be looking to take on two years of a 33yo d

Fair enough, thought it may be an interesting fit since they could use a 2nd pairing LD

VAN wants RD, they get a bottom pair and really good RD prospect, a top 6 winger prospect who can score and a first... how is this bad?

Has never gotten 50 pts plus he might play on the leaf's 3rd. could maybe be a good deadline pick up but the leaf's could also use the 1st to pick up someone else

He’s a high end 3rd line on a contender. Every team needs a Connor brown on their 3rd line , he’s great at takeaways, penalty kill, deployed heavily defensively and against other teams top forwards. He’s been on a 50pt pace / 82 games if you combine the last 3 years

VAN is looking for RHD with some size that can play with Hughes in the long term, don't think VAN would want 5'11 169 pound dman playing with Hughes.

I don't think people realize that teams that are willing to take Mrazek's contract will essentially be in a bidding war. Cheapest additional return gets Mrazek, I think most of these teams would rather have a 3rd and Petr than nothing

Fair enough, I think every team is looking for a RHD with size that can play well with offensive dmen, those guys aren't available though

I think this line of Kerf-Paul-Brown could be an elite shutdown line and even the fourth line here would be very speedy and responsible defensively. Not the greatest goaltending tandem you've ever seen but with the roster in front of them and good team defense, could really see this team be top 5 on both sides of the ice

Caps have Orlov and Fehervary already on the left for the top 4. Just need someone to fill the third pair slot, and it'll most likely be a rookie out of camp or a cheap free agent.

True, wasn't sure if some insulation was needed there

Oh, we could definitely use some insulation there. But frankly, we need to spend the money in other places like goaltending and depth scoring. You had the right idea, it's just not a good fit unfortunately.

Ottawa thinks their close to being a playoff team, they won't be trading Brown to a team their chasing for a playoff spot.

True but since leaving the leafs he hasn't played a full season. I'm not counting last year since a decent chunk of game were missed do to covid and with that, a lot of chances for him to get injured. i wouldn't trust Brown unless he was the best available player at the deadline.
