Most competitive scenario trade for Miller

Created by: Nik_SH
Team: 2022-23 Nashville Predators
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 16, 2022
Published: Jun. 16, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Miller is absolutely best potentially available player for the Preds right now (I think Preds can't afford players like Pasta right now, so it is what it is).
Miller fits Preds identity like nobody else.

So if Poile want to acquire really "big fish", I think, it must be Miller.
The challenge to resign him is another story, but hopefully such type of deal will be finished with such condition. Immediately resign, or nah.
Myers - in this trade is more like "negative value". 1 million retention should make his contract more friendly. But he is still worth at least 3rd round pick + "B- prospect".

What about other side. If all rumors are true, and Canucks want to sell everything except their young stars and Demko, so why not to trade for some pretty nice assets.
Fabbro should be perfect with Hughes. He shows that he can play well with offensive-minded partner (Josi-). And there is still a lot of potential. He is that "pretty good NHL player" in that deal.
Farrance - best LD prospect in system. Former Fabbro's partner (at Boston university). He is that "B+ lvl prospect" in this trade.
Evangelista - close to 2 points per game in OHL last season. With 55 goals in 62 games. Likely he is the best goal-scorer in Preds system. He is that "A-lvl prospect" in this trade.
1st round pick at strong draft - no comments.

So, what we have:
A-lvl prospect
B+lvl prospect
Solid NHL player (young RHD, it is always pretty valuable)
1st round pick of mediocre team at the strong draft class (but with top 10 protection)

For:
Elite physical forward, that will resigned right after the trade
TOP-4 physical defensmen, with not really good contract, but just fine.

I think it is fair deal. What do you think?

I think nashville would be better off waiting a couple years and doing a little retool
dont see how miller would get them much further

I would rather Cody glass than the 2 prospects in the trade but I actually wonder if Nashville is a team very interested in miller. Don’t they have to move forward and try to win now with Josi/eckholm/duchene/granlund ++ all at the age where they need to win now. I mean there’s no dissembling this team so shouldn’t they go for it? They certainly will have the space to sign miller long term but like I said I would rather glass + 1st + fabbro for miller + myers with retention

The only way I see a Miller trade working is if NSH can move Johansen -- just too much money/cap involved otherwise, especially with Myers included. And I'd prefer to keep Evangelista.

Yea if I’m Poile Id pass. Miller might be elite but is also almost 30 and wanting top dollar contract. Evangelista and farrance are 2 of Nashville’s better prospects and fabbro is our top right handed defenseman plus the 23 first round pick in a incredibly deep draft. Yea I’d rather keep all that and get a lesser player in free agency

I've been saying that for weeks. They should be trying to get a ransom for Saros and move guys like Johansen with some retention. Bottom out a bit, pick up a couple of top prospects and go after it again when Askarov is ready while clearing out cap space (similar strategy to the Rangers). Build around a stud goalie on an ELC and hope for a bit of lottery luck. They've already got a good D-core that will help him and they have some good prospects there.

The team above is fine, and might sneak into the playoffs but isn't going to do any damage. And I'm not sure how much money there will be to resign Miller the next season anyway.

Value seems there just not sure it’s the best move for the Preds. Question tho. Why wouldn’t the predators just buy out Philippe myers and use the cap space for themselves? Resign forsberg and you get an extra like 600k to play with which isn’t much but can tip the scales. Like unless someone offers me a second I’d think the cap space is more important?

the value they could get for saros would be immense
i dont know if josi would still be good by the time theyd be ready to compete tho, could trade him for a kings ransom aswell

Totally agree. A 50% retention on Johansen or Duchenne (whoever they like more) plus Saros.... the Leafs would give up multiple prospects and picks for that I have to imagine.

2022 and 23 first. At least 1-2 mid round picks. Sandin, another forward prospect. Maybe even Knies or Niemola. Can't imagine anything would be off the table there.

If I'm trading Saros, I'd be looking at NJD and that 2OA pick-- maybe plus. Cooley would be a great get for NSH. If Glass becomes a 2C, Cooley - Glass - Svechkov is pretty good center depth going forward (and if NSH is fortunate enough: Bedard - Cooley - Svechkov, but that's dreaming). And Jeannot to TOR would get a haul.

Canucks take a long hard look at this. Very well thought out trade proposal. I like it much more than most I have seen here.

Yea I know New Jersey’s is looking for another top forward for that number 2 but I’m sure if saros came available they would jump all over that because I believe saros would instantly turn them into a playoff team and with there already young team the would be a threat for years because saros is still a fairly young goalie.
But it’s right if you’re selling saros why not just blow up the team and get what you can for all our players and play our youth. Josi would bring an absolute ton. I have one rebuild that has josi going to Detroit for Edvinsson and 2 1sts. Duchene granlund ekholm and joey could bring back something nice with retention.
Poiles not gonna do that though so it’s all wishful thinking. Or the fact that the ownership finally moves on from Poile and brings in another gm that can actually draft an forward and develop him into a star

Even without Myers involved, it's more than NSH should be spending for a year of Miller right now. They're not good enough to capitalize on an all-in move like this right now.
