Wings decline. No desire for Petry or his contract. Not trading any 1sts, especially not next years.

I think it has potential. Doesn't mean Detroit is going to give up anything meaningful to Montreal. And Wings would probably want his NTC really pared down so he could be traded in his last year.

No way you are getting DET’s 2023 1st even in a swap. 23 wayyyyyy deeper than 22. DET’s hopefully gonna be garb again and have a shot at top 3 pick.

Every single trade has "potential"

Lebrun is simply searching for click bait revenue from a hockey mad market

It makes more sense for Montreal to keep Petry than for Detroit to trade for him

I still don't think it happens Detroit because like you said Detroit isn't going to give up anything meaningful to Montreal for Petry.

He did say Detroit has potential nothing more and he is saying that because Petry is from Detroit. He refers to Dallas as has interest in Petry. But it's still just a rumor from a respected source but a rumor none the less. Look at Elliotte Friedman a respected source as well but the past 3 TDLs and 2 off-seasons he has predicted Bertuzzi to Toronto. I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to happen especially at that price.

Detroit declines, don't need RD and won't sit 24 year olds with a future to play a 35 year old with his future past him.
