The Wild trading Fiala is because they can't afford him, how are they supposed to take 10 million in cap hit back?

Wow, we got worse lol

No depth at all. Farabee shouldn’t be moved, he is the only player in Philly who actually looked like a stud even with AC coaching, probably has a career year next year

Sanhiem is easily our best D, losing him would mean we should just rank because no one else plays D

Konecny based on the growth chart of multiple players who he has had similar growth to, is going to crush it next season and have a career year as well.

I like the signings though

I don’t disagree but it is clear they are trying to get better sooner rather than later

Can they not afford him because they just don’t have the money or that if they sign him they won’t be able to fill other holes in the lineup?

Just an fyi, Fiala is only available because of cap issues. This does the exact opposite of what Guerin is trying to do

Also, Sanheim is a good player, but one year of him isn't enticing, especially with Minnesota legitimately having 8 defensemen worthy of a roster spot

This trade is downgrading and forces them to make even more moves to compensate

Indications are that Chuck is going to swing for the fence. They’ve said they want to add top end talent. Well to do that you have to give up talent. Other than through FA ( which right now we can’t afford) there is no way to get that top end talent other than trading our second and third tier talent ( because that’s all we have)

Wouldn't the Flyers be so much better off signing a good UFA like Gaudreau, keeping Farabee, and the 5th overall rather than trading for Tkachuk.?

Makes sense. Sounds like the wild are going to be taking a step back next year then. If they are trading their second best forward and can’t take back much salary then their offensive production for next year will most definitely go down

I hear you, I just think Tkachuk fits torts style more. And signing JG ( would force them to sell off pieces to make it all work money wise

Torts style? He's really not a good coach now. He'll turn off his players by year two. He would rather lose his way than win another way. Great for TV but not so much behind the bench.

With 11 forwards, 6 defensemen, and 1 goalie under contract for next year we have $7.3 million in cap space this summer. He was asking for at least that much last offseason before he put up 85 points. If we wanted to sign him, we'd have to move multiple other pieces to make it work with little to no cap coming back and no money retained. We'd then be in a bind next year with little money coming off the books, more dead money from the buyouts and Boldy needing a significant raise coming off his ELC.

The Parise and Suter contracts are what's killing us. It would have been worse if we kept them, but not by much. We have $12.74 million in dead money this upcoming season and $14.74 million for each of the next 2 years after that. If we had that money free, we could easily keep him, but we don't so we pretty much have to move him.
