Doubt the hawks consider this one. Seems light by a top end prospect like raty and maybe a second

Um. Then you're valuation of Fiala is through the roof cause you're getting some really good pieces here. You also get a really solid replacement in Beauvilier.

OTTAWA DOES NOT WANT BAILEY. OTTAWA DOES NOT WANT BAILEY. OTTAWA DOES NOT WANT BAILEY SO STOP TRADING HIM TO USE FOR POSITIVE VALUE.

All this retention is utter nonsense. Future considerations are only in the trade because you can’t trade something for nothing. Buffalo and Arizona are not retaining for nothing especially since they don’t have to. There has never been an instance where a team retained in the future for future considerations. It’s just nonsensical

The thing is MN really can’t take contracts back other than NHL ready prospects on an ELC or high end picks. Which you sent to Chicago so the chance of getting Fiala are basically zero. You could send bellows but it’s gonna take more than him. The prospects you sent aren’t bad by any means but they’re so far away from being ready. You could add raty bellows and the 2nd. I don’t know if that’s too much. Time will tell but teams definitely won’t get Fiala for pennies. Guerin will land great value for him.

maybe I’M the one who doesn’t understand how retention works but pretty sure you can’t just tack on somebody else’s salary into a trade lmao. either way, even in a world where Ottawa is willing to take on Bailey, they’re not gonna do the Islanders a favour by clearing cap space so that they can go off and trade for the guys that Ottawa is targeting (DeBrincat and Fiala)
