Pass. There are loads of LDs I'd want before him (and his contract).

I believe we do a swap of Barbashev for a 4LD. He’s expendable with Neighbours about ready to come up. I think there are better options than Pettersson who I think is a little overpaid.

I like him cause he's a solid 26 year old LHD that will play ~80 games a season and will be a rock on the back end. He is also not too overpayed and would be a low cost great value pickup.

Just a little but he's cheap and effective to get so I really see a team with a lack of LHD going for Petterson cause of his price. I think they keep Barbashev's physicality for one more season. Just to give Neighbours enough experience so that he has a seemless transition to the pro ranks.

Barbashev is probably being moved. Most likely will need a stop gap until Perunovich and Mikkola are fully ready for the big minutes. I'd obviously look at using Tucker and a couple of our other LDs in the near future such as Loof and Galloway. Pettersson doesn't exactly fit the bill as someone else likely would. I'm more interested in seeing Perron getting that or maybe even a little cheaper of a deal. Bozak is most likely not coming back another year. I think we have way too many 4th line checking centers who could fill that gap. Joshua, Toropchenko, Brown, etc. So most likely Barbashev, Bozak, out.

Shut, sorry, I forgot about Mikkola and Perunovich. They would most likely split that time in the 2LD slot. Thanks for mentioning that but that makes so much more sense.

Yeah, Idk if either of them are ready for 2nd pairing minutes. I don't really trust Parayko right now either. If I had to guess based on performances and matchups you'd probably put Perunovich with Bortuzzo and Mikkola with Parayko. Perunovich would be probably a good pairing with a big defenseman in Parayko, but right now I wouldn't give him huge minutes just work him into the lineup.

I think Mikkola takes the 2LD slot cause he played there in platoon for the Blues a lot this year. He is also gotten a lot better an dhas fully matured to pretty much his 2LD role of a big shutdown pair with Paryko.

I'm not completely confident in that statement. Forwards have gained a lot of speed, and Mikkola isn't not nearly as fast. Yes he got better, but he also took a lot of dumb penalties. I don't think Mikkola is more than a Bottom pairing defenseman, but that's just me. I'd take Mikkola over Scandella anyday of the week though.

Solid, sure, but his two main faults do not go well with our system. He's not great at standing up the line and his giveaways tend to come in bad places in the D zone.
