Stanley Smash and Grab - From The Athletic

Created by: areax91
Team: 2022-23 San Jose Sharks
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 21, 2022
Published: Jun. 21, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
What the Sharks would look like if they followed an all-in, "smash and grab for a cup" run? This is far from ideal (and some ways suicidal in the long haul), but I'm just sharing what moves are proposed by The Athletic's Corey Masisak if the Sharks were serious in pursuing a Vegas style postseason at all costs strategy.

Plan:
- Open up as much salary cap space as possible, including moving some helpful players if needed.
- Look for players who can outperform their contracts

Yeah, these moves are not the ones I'd make if I was the Sharks GM. I was just sharing what the article proposed if the team was serious in going all-in for postseason, but giving up Bordeleau for Schmaltz or Robins for a Puljujarvi trade (who can be gotten for much less) would be non-starters for me. I'd honestly keep tanking for top 10 prospects til some of these big contracts expire, but the owner wants the team to return to the postseason and there are better trades to make to get back to the postseason without forsaking our farm system in the process.

Really? you have no shot at Mayfield from the Isles. This is such an insult of an offer.

Same coach in the AHL which he would most likely end up, Didn't have a great year in the nhl this year and needs to work on his play in his own zone imho

Yeah, I suppose, but at least there a new eyes looking down on Trent Cull. Cull very much deserves to have some more talent to prove he can actually develop some players, but he's also very much on the hot seat as well
