Varlamov would be solid for the Sabres, but isn't he worth more than a 4th? I'd be very surprised if he goes for less than a 2nd.

TBH I originally put a 2nd in there but considering the NYI need the cap relief, and it's only a one year deal for BUF, didn't think it merited the higher pick. A 3rd or 4th is what I think.

i feel like i read somewhere last year (can’t remember where ngl or i’d find it) that they were looking at a 2nd and a 3rd trading him at his full cap hit. could have changed i guess but i don’t see him getting dealt if the best they can get is a 4th unless they really need to move out money bc of a big trade or FA signing or something which i’d be surprised by

They don’t need to move salary and the asking price will end up being a first

Darcy Kuemper fetched a first and he’s terrible. Therefore Varly is worth at least what Kuemper got 🤷‍♂️

I want a Darcy Kuemper level return, but I doubt it’s coming from Buffalo tbh

maybe if we retain salary or if a team ends up in a really tight spot, otherwise i don’t see it. i’d be perfectly happy if it was a 2nd and 3rd. and i’m not saying they need to right now, but in the unlikely event that like johnny gaudreau wants to come here, they will really need to, and that’d be the circumstance under which they’d maybe take less

I only c it because of Colorado and Edmonton’s goaltending breakdowns. If Colorado loses this series the phone will be ringing like crazy.

I don't think either are great d-men. Looking at dollars and cents along with points production, Barrie at that reduced cap is a no brainer bonus.

No, I don't think it is. Myers can do something that Barrie can't: eat minutes

And we all know what a disaster Barrie is in his own zone

varlamov doesn’t want edmonton. i think the avs bring kuemper back, he’s dealing w an eye injury which i’m sure is impacting his play, he had a great regular season and this bad performance might help keep the salary down

He’s benefiting from playing in Colorado. He had a rough start to the year too.

No I'm not, and what part of OEL don't you like? Just the contract or the player in general?

his goals saved above expected numbers are solid. better than varlamov’s this season (and let’s be honest, his great season last year also clearly had him benefiting from what was once a great defense)

He had Andy Greene lol. And Nick Leddy who might be the most hated defenseman on this site lol.
