Post Trade deadline 2023

Created by: Habsfan76
Team: 2022-23 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 24, 2022
Published: Jun. 24, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Habs need to tear it down and do a proper rebuild. I included only draft picks in return over prospects because it’s easier to generalize what their value may be over what teams they may go to. I think if they do a rebuild like this they can start adding more veteran pieces in the summer 2023 but for now try to “tank” for either Bedard Michkov or Fantilli. I think Hoffman Gallagher Savard and Armias contracts are nearly untradable at this point so just need to ride out their contract until they’re over. Alterations and comments are appreciated

Could be true, tough to gauge his value we’ll have to see if he can be a 50-60pt guy next year

Here is the biggest issue you have, you are a Habs fan trying to make fair trades with teams who's fans want to "win" the trade rather than just making a hockey trade. I actually had a Jets fan say the difference between Dubois and Dvorak is a mid late 1st but he said Dvorak + 2022 1st (Dallas) + 2023 1st (Montreal top 10 protected) + one of Norlinder, Farrell or Yelonen was not enough. All this was in the same thread where he said Dvorak + 1st = Dubois! It is ridiculous the amount of people on here that hate the Habs so much that they think not a single Canadien outside of Zuke or Caufield has any value.

Philly doesnt need any more half decent players like anderson (plus in a few years his contract will become terrible as he is old), they have enough center depth so no need for poehling. They can can something for JVR at the deadline with salary retention and going from 5OA to 18OA is a very significant set back

I can agree that there are A LOT of players on Montreal that have little to no trade value and in some cases negative trade value. But guys like Anderson, Dvorak, Petry and Allen are all significant adds for any team. Petry in particular for me is a player who has been Montreals best Dman (yes better than Weber) for years and if they think they can get a better deal for a Dman of Petrys caliber I’d love to see a comparable. Anderson is not a cornerstone player but in the right environment can be a 30+ goal scorer who can hit, fight, and is a great skater. These types of players don’t grow on trees. Like I said above, people are free to make rebuttles on my mock trades, I’d like to see where they stand on these types of players trade values

Yes of course we have bad contracts like Byron, Drouin, Armia, Hoffman. However bad contracts don't mean worthless players. For me cap dumps are guys who are not even 3rd pairing or bottom 6 players. Guys like Alzne a couple years ago, those are cap dumps

Yes those types of players are NHL players, but they should be making half the money and teams don’t want those contracts against their cap. Montreal is in a position where they can keep a couple of those guys as stop-gaps until they’re ready to compete for playoffs again. But I do agree that just because Montreal was last place doesn’t mean that all their players are overpaid and have no value. Toffoli was traded for a 1st, 5th and a prospect. I see Anderson as similar trade value. Petry is old but a 3 year contract for a 34 year old at his level is better than a 8 year deal for a 28 year old IMO (Hampus Lindholm for example)
