How is that selling high though? I think it is fair to expect Kakko to be as good as either Gourde or Wennberg if not better.

Might as well keep the kids if you can sign Kakko for that cheap and move them when their values are even higher (I would expect Kakko at the very least to reach a higher level). Allows for the team to be deeper with the lower cap.

The Seattle trade is brutal for the Rangers, Kakko should have more value than Gourde and Wennberg.

Gourde is an extremely good 2 way center who has a reasonable cap for a few more years … Chytl at best is 2nd line center and Kakko meh I don’t think he’s gonna be much of anything. The thought here is next year … so we regress or do we progress and honestly adding Goirde and Wennberg with good seasons from Laf and Krav could be a huge difference maker … it’s just a different mentality … I’m looking for immediate results with the ability to trade guys if needed in a few years

Look what happened w/ JT Miller
Same with Buch
Let’s not do the same w/ Kakko!

yeah those were both very stupid. Kreider vs Miller … sorry but 1 great season from Kreider doesn’t Cis ge the fact that JT is a 100 point guy … awful trades for the rangers just awful so I hear you but I just don’t see either of them being that good, they look a little lost but you’re probably right they don’t move either at least not until trade deadline next season

Ok the value to dump Nemeth might be accurate, however Montreal is not in need of draft picks. We already have 23 over the next 2 drafts with 33 out of 50 contracts to sign. We have 15 FA's or RFA's to resign to fill out the Habs (3) and Rocket (10) roster spots. Of those FA's and RFA's we are definitely resigning Romanov, R Pitlick, Primeau, Schueneman, Pezzetta, Brook, Vejdemo and Montembeault (7). We may also consider resigning Clague, Ouellet, T. Pitlick, Perrault, Dauphin, Lagesson. That is 13 out of 17 available contract spots. We quite simply do not need more picks, we need prospects under contract who will make resigning some of our AHL players (Clague, Brook, Vejdemo, Ouellet, Dauphin ect...) unnecessary.

Yeah you’re probably right I just selected a random low placed team that’s rebuilding … he’s so bad I don’t know if we could even move him at all

Couldn’t disagree with you more regarding Kakko…he’s still very young and is elite defensively…who knows how his O game develops- but giving up on young players is a sure way to an eventual rebuild….at worst Kakko remains a very good 3rd liner- who doesn’t break the team’s CAP structure. Gotta be patient with young players!

Only way at this point I move on from Kakko is if NYR are getting back a young C (could be a few years from NHL) who has a projection as an elite top 6 C.

This would allow any team to offersheet Laffy for over 6M (1st and 3rd) and the rangers wouldn’t be able to match it
