  1. van Riemsdyk, James
  2. 2024 2nd round pick (PHI)
2.
PHI
  1. Mikkola, Niko [RFA Rights]
  2. Scandella, Marco
  3. 2022 1st round pick (STL)
Additional Details:
Philly jumps at the opportunity to add a big, physical, young and cheap D in Mikkola, as well as a decent draft pick. While Scandella is overpaid and a lefty, he would fit serviceably in the 3RHD role IMO
STL
  1. Sanheim, Travis ($2,000,000 retained)
Additional Details:
I think Sanheim will be traded due to lack of an extension. St.Louis, who was looking for a LHD who could skate up the ice well last TDL, gets one of the best skating defensemen in the NHL at a fairly cheap cap hit, while also dumping Scandella
3.
PHI
  1. 2022 2nd round pick (NYI)
ARI
  1. O'Brien, Jay [Reserve List]
  2. 2023 3rd round pick (NYR)
Additional Details:
Random, bit I think Philly makes a push for a 2nd round pick to select Servac Petrovsky

Just can’t see the flyers retaining almost half of sanhiems salary and this doesn’t make them better now like chucks been wanting. Recently chucks been on this “aggressive re-tool” talk and scandellas a downgrade over sanhiem.

Jay O'Brien is closer to being an NHL player than a 2022 2nd round pick, and with 4 2nds it'd make sense for them to move one (plus, you could argue a 2023 3rd is close to as valuable as a 2022 2nd. Way deeper draft)

The main piece in this return is Mikkola IMO. 6'5 and plays with an edge to his game, plus the retention is only for 1 season. Fair to point out it doesn't fit the "win now" mantra, but I think even Fletcher knows it'd be a mistake to keep him as a self-rental if they can't come to terms on an extension.
