It's not enough for Josh. 13th OA isnt a needle mover. Need a young player or developed prospect added as has been reported. The draft is too thin too take such a maybe at 13. The 2023 pick is much more interesting. Then you have a deal.

“It’s a peculiar draft year,” said one NHL team head scout. “Neither one of them [Slafkovsky or Wright] are locks to be first-line players in the NHL. I’m not saying one or the other couldn’t become first liners, they’re both good prospects, but unlike a lot of years, this draft doesn’t have any great prospects. There are no slam dunks. There are things I like about both guys, but I have some reservations, too.”

terrific, i already think 13OA is too much to give, so if the habs won’t take it then all the better, all that matters is that the trade doesn’t happen.

that said, that second varlamov trade would actually be really good. doubt the devils do it though.

That's not even a consideration for NJ. We want someone younger. Siegenthaler was literally shown as the best defensive dman in the entire NHL(ahead of Pelech) by Andy and Rono. U can look them up on Twitter. Break down everything analytically

Hard to believe that’s true but I’d be curious to see the work they did! Also if you are interested, I really enjoyed the last couple athletic articles from Goldman and O’Connor about the analytics movement. I think they do a really good job identifying the limits of their data and how it is used.

Oh absolutely. I think analytics are sometimes overvalued in the evaluation of players. But, coming from someone that watched all 82 Devils games last year, Siegenthaler was noticeable almost every night for his defensive abilities

Isles should not do either trade.

Anderson is not what the Isles need and 13OA is more than he is worth with that contract.

Varly could return a 1st rd pick or at worst a 2nd round pick on his own. The jury is still out on Jonas, but to go forward with this trade, the Isles would to be a #5 D (LD) away from the cup. Especially with Halak being a downgrade from Varly.
