Minni didn't do too bad on this deal. It's about what I would have given them.

When your spending 12 mil on two players not to play for your team, you gotta make budget sacrifices.

It's funny when you compare the final deal to what was expected by MIN (and other) fans. I thought they'd do better, esp considering that he signed for under $8mil and that deal had to be in place prior to the trade

I know right they refusing some of the MTL deal but in the end not much better.

King received Fiala for 7 years under 8m
Minnesota received a pick first round #19 with a prospect defensemen with a potential of top 4.

That not exactly what Minny fan was asking.

Prospect #19 could be Ivan Miroshnichenko.

It's similar to the Sabres trading Reinhart too the Panthers last year. They had little leverage and were able to get a 1st and prospect. Which is appropriate value for a top 6 winger.

That probably why they didn't have full value, they didn't have any leverage to ask more.

Look at it this way, if the deal fiala signed was an offer sheet, the Wild would receive a 1st, 2nd and 3rd pick. They really only missed out on a third. Faber was a (mid) second round pick.
