Another try

Created by: Hammerwise
Team: 2022-23 Calgary Flames
Initial Creation Date: Jun. 30, 2022
Published: Jun. 30, 2022
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Probably a non-goer.

I like the CGY depth here and the addition of Desnoyers, Fedotov, Zamula and good 3rd aren;t earth shattering but all 3 are upper/high midlevel prospects that are close to helping/playing now and all 3 are very capable of top 2 line/pairing

Koneckny at 4mil for 3 yrs (scoring 50+ pts on a bad team, bad coaches, missing almost all of its top 6 for huge chunks) is a downgrade from Tkachuk.

But I like the deep, talented and more youthful CGY team as a result, very deep with a 13/14th forward of Pelletier/Carpenter/Desnoyers and a 7th dman of either Stone or Zamula.

I was thinking his rights arent as valuable. Koneckny scored 50+ pts playing on a bad team, bad coaches, with almost all the other top 6 injured or missing for chunks of the season, the retention is awesome = 3 yrs of 1.5mil, zamula is a solid prospect and the 3rd high.

Its light, maybe PHI adds a very good forward prospect (Tuomaala, Tippett, o@brien, or Desnoyers).

But overall I like the depth of the defense: (bringing big body Gudbranson back to pair with Valimaki and a 7th of either Zamula or Stone) and I like the forward lines, while bringing in a couple of rookies.

Other teams have more cap than PHI and might beat the PHI offer, but this offer is full of youth and future with a downgrade on Koneckny

Unlike Minnesota with Fiala or Buffalo with Reinhart, Calgary has no desire to trade Tkachuk nor do they need to do to any issues. Tkachuk is also a far better player than both of them too. Like the offer has to start with #5+++

the rights do still hold a lot of value. Calgary could realistically sign Tkachuk and Gaudreau and just sacrifice their bottom 6 and bottom d pair for lesser guys. and even if they had to decide between the 2 they are gonna choose tkachuck 99/100 times.

any trade for Tkachuck to Philly starts with.

5OA+ Farabee+ Zamula or York+ Brink potentially even more like another solid prospect or 2nd+

That’s way too pricey, I doubt Philly does that even if it’s McDavid. Farabee alone has potential to be an elite forward 40+ goal scorer. The numbers he put up so far have been under a system that has absolutely ruined every players offensive contributions.

Flames don’t even consider this, nothing in that trade interests them. Wasn’t konecny healthy scratched a bunch last year? And all those prospects are useless to calgary and will probably never make the nhl

Nah, wouldn't be 5OA AND Farabee, would be one or the other than the rest. If the Flyers were truly going for it, i would say it's the 5th OA, another 1st probably, and any number of prospects and probably TK as well.
