Guess it depends on how much you value Cooley versus the guys 8. I personally want to extend Bert and just select at 8. I’m thinking adding a guy like Kasper is an underrated move.

I'm with you on this one.

And Slavkovsky may be a bust like Patrick or Kakko. You're not taking that into account. NHL GMs are extremely risk averse.

I agree with that the 2 best players in this draft could be the 2 defensemen just like the 2017 draft.

The cost is too high to move up from 8th to 2nd. Especially in this years draft where there's no true superstars available.
I'd rather keep Bertuzzi Zadina and the 8th. If the wings move up I'd rather see them try to target the Philly pick at 5 and try to get one of Nemec or Jiricek.

I'd be willing to trade #8, the #40 pick and the STL 2023 2nd round pick for the #5 pick

PHI is gonna want more than just a second round pick. That takes them out of the running for either Nemec or Jiricek. It's gotta be something of value

It's two 2nd's, not one. Philly has no 2nd's in this years or next years draft. They get both back for dropping 3 spots. It really depends on what Philly is targeting. If they're targeting a forward like Cutter Gauthier and not the D men. They could very likely have him at 8 and get both 2nd round picks back.

Detroit Receives 5th Overall 2022
Philly Receives 8th Overall 2022 + 40th overall 2022 + 2023 2nd round pick (STL)

If they really wanted one of Nemec or jiricek, they likely arent going to trade the #5 pick unless its an overpayment by Detroit. in which case Detroit backs off and sticks with 8.

It's called a precedent. Look it up. Not my fault you don't like it.

Hah! Thats hilarious. Im familiar with the term. There was a goalie coming off a great season involved there, no rfa's, i believe stepan had 4 years left on his deal none of these players have term, and it was for the 7OA and deAngelo, finally draft pick values change from draft to draft so i dont see a "president". However that top 3 picks are almost never traded and 1 hasn't been in over 20 years, salary cap era or no, kinda seems like more of a presedent that bertuzzi won't be concidered worth 2nd overall by any gm.

Kakko's a bust? And Patrick had a nasty concussion for over a year, he'd be far from the first players career being completly changed by head trama. Theres plenty of good examples of "busts" try using those.
