I'm a NYR fan. If my good ARMY buddy Mike Rehmer from CHI-TOWN is out there, Hello Mike. We caught the Pete Stemkowski triple overtime winner on a transistor radio compliments of WLS while stationed at Ft. Polk, Louisiana in 1971. Rangers won the game, Hawks won the war. Enough reminiscing. The NOGO above is hard to believe. I know the Hawks are about to undergo a big rebuild. In NY, we have the recurring problem that the Ranger front office specializes in, awful contracts. I've been trying to find away to get out of this contract mess. One of my scenarios (assuming no NTC or NMC issues) was a blockbuster of a trade of KANE TEOWS and the Cat for a boatload of Rangers. It would have work out quite well for the HAWKs 1st line of Kreider, Mika and Kapppo, Chicago's current 2nd line more or less, Chytil on the 3rd line at LW or C, Georgy competing for net time and one or two of the young Rangers (Jones, Kravtsov). The Hawks would carry 50% and the TOEWS Kane contracts in 22-23. But for 23-24 they was $30+mil to renew existing contracts and and 10.5 (or more) depending on how you spent it for two high quality UFAs. At that point I got excited, Maybe I had a solution that worked for both clubs. My Ranger analysis was working fine until the last step. Retaining the Cat in the out years. Didn't work. I was devastated. So if any Hawks fan have some deals they think might work, I'd love to hear them. P.S. The greatest hockey game I ever witnessed from the stands was a 1-0 NYR win v. the Hawks in March 1966. Glenn Hall in the nets for Chicago and Ed Giacomin for Blueshirts. Both goalies made no less than 1/2 dozen well above average or better saves. Jim "The Chief" Neilson scored at 8:59 of the 2nd period. At the end of the Game Glenn Hall received a 2 minute standing ovation from the Garden faithful when he was announced as 1st star. Well deserved. An believe me sports fans, that doesn't happen very often. Thanks for listening.
