Ok now that’s where u lost me. People are all cheers for trading Marino for Garland bit when it’s Oloffson it’s this big deal and Marino is being terribly valued. Oloffson isn’t bad and is playing on a young inexperienced Sabres squad. Lot different than playing with a Sidney Crosby/Evgeni Malkin. A young forward like him could absolutely excel in our top 6.
I don’t like the Marino for garland trades either. But facts are facts and Oloffsson is a pp specialist. Iafallo could also excel in our top 6 and we wouldn’t have to give up a young top 4 D for it
And it’s not like he played with young inexperienced players or scrubs in 20-21 yet more than half his goals came on the pp. he mostly played with Sam Reinhart and Eichel until he got injured. Played a bit with Hall too.
1st qtr of that season he played 10 games (mostly with Reinhart, Eichel, and Hall), had 10 points, 8 of them on the pp. had 4:05 pptoi.
2nd qtr played 16 games (mostly with Reinhart, Eichel, and Staal), had 9 points, 4 of them on the pp, had 2:46 pptoi.
3rd qtr played 16 games (mostly with Reinhart, skinner, Okposo) had 5 points, 0 on the pp, had 2:24 pptoi.
4th qtr played 14 games (mostly with Reinhart, skinner, bjork), had 8 points, 3 on pp, had 3:02 pptoi.
About half his points came on the pp. he won’t get that pp time here in Pittsburgh.
1st unit will be Crosby, Guentzel, rust, the 2C, and Letang
2nd unit will be Zucker, Carter, Heinen, Kapanen, Matheson.
You could put Olofsson in for Heinen I suppose but he will get like 30-60 seconds per game as opposed to 2+ minutes. Not good for a guy who relies on the pp for a lot of his offense.
