Older vets who want to win have to sacrifice. If he wants to play on a contender then he has to take league min. He could stay in Florida at that number or go play in Colorado behind MacKinnon.

He most definitely doesn’t have to take league minimum to play on a contender. The right team will prioritize what he brings to the table and make it work.

This isn’t Jason Spezza. He’s still one of the best players in the league and easily top 6 on any team.

if he has both of those options, then why would he pick the team that can't make it out of the first round? just because vets on their last legs who are from toronto are willing to sign minimum deals with the Leafs, doesn't mean that players with some years of high-end competing left who aren't from toronto will do the same

giroux is at the point in his career where he will play where he always wanted to, even if that is the leafs, i dont see him playing here for that cheap. maybe 2-4 million range, and fleury was willing to waive for toronto at the tdl according to a few of the guys for sportsnet but idk if he will want to sign here
